The band visited the a children’s hospital and were shaken and upset by the suffering they witnessed first hand. Harry Styles took a moment to reflect and confessed: “My mum worries about me all the time so I can’t imagine how terrible it must be for these mothers to see their babies so poorly. “Looking into a tiny baby’s eyes and seeing their pain is terrible.” The band were visiting Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra on a two-day trip to the Ghanaian capital for Red Nose Day. Liam Payne can be seen close to tears as he comments: : “It must be so difficult seeing your baby so ill. “At home we take vaccinations for granted.   “I’ve watched Red Nose Day appeals before and been in tears. But seeing these babies so sick is another level of sadness. “You just don’t realise how hard life can be in other parts of the world.” Louis Tomlinson added: “Seeing these sick children puts everything into perspective.” He added: “It’s amazing, these mums are all able to get their babies vaccinated thanks to the generosity of Comic Relief viewers. “We know the proceeds of our Red Nose Day single will help protect babies but everyone can do their bit, too. “For less than a fiver, the price of a coffee and piece of cake, you can save a little life and that’s the best feeling in the world.” Zayn Malik said: “We all waste money but the most important thing we can all do is give £5 to protect children from these illnesses.”

In a direct message to a fan, he explained: ‘We all are the most selfish people ever! U would not believe that country.’ We’ll ignore the fact that sentence could have been written in crayons by a toddler because he’s done a bit of charity work. Plus, he’s probably still  buzzing after passing his driving test  so we’ll let Niall have his moment. At least we all know that 1D have a  few quid in the bank  to make a donation. ]]>
