The Garden City of Kumasi dazzled with stars over the weekend when actress/producer Selassie Ibrahim and her Smarttys Management and Production (SPMP) premiered two brand new movies at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Kumasi.  The grand premiere of ‘Shackles’ and ‘Secret Burden’ pulled together a string of Ghanaian celebrities, captains of industry, statesmen and royalty including Desmond Elliot, Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari, John Dumelo, Vivian Achor, Ekow Blankson, James Gardner, Beverly Afaglo, PV Obeng, Hon. Dan Botwe, Eddie Annan, and several others. The special guest of honour was the witty Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, Paramount Chief of Owirenkyi, who in a speech revealed how he had wanted to act right from childhood.  Before the screening,  the writer and producer of the movies, Selassie Ibrahim explained that both ‘Shackles’ and ‘Secret Burden’ are family oriented movies that aim to teach families some principles  on how to build strong homes, grow as family and how to keep the family together. The movies were subsequently auctioned by MC for the ceremony, Abeiku Santana, who made sure that some patrons dug deep into their wallets to support the nation-wide marketing of both movies. The guests were also treated delightful music from the Tagoe Sisters, Ohemaa Mercy and Kwabena Kwabena. Among the highlights of the ceremony was a surprise joint performance by Kwabena Kwabena, Abeiku Santana, the Tagoe Sisters as well as a brief indulgence from Kwame Adinkrah. Patrons were also treated to a delicious cocktail reception, where they had the chance to take photographs with the celebrities. [gallery link="file" columns="2"]]]>
