The inspiring story of Oswell Cole, President of AIESEC in Central University
Meet Oswell Cole. The President of AIESEC in Central University, Team Leader for Unilever Brand Ambassadors on Central University Campuses and an upcoming Entrepreneur in the travel sector. The 24-year-old making large impacts across the country and putting Ghana on the map He has been working with AIESEC since October 2014 where he has served as Members Development Manager and Vice President Marketing and Communication until he ascended the position of President in June 2016. He also is the Conference Experience Manager for AIESEC in the United Kingdom, where he organizes the best conference for the entity. AIESEC is an International, not for profit, educational and completely youth-run Organization. It has been in existence since 1948 and is currently in more than 128 countries of the world. AIESEC facilitates and promotes cultural understanding and develop socially responsible proactive agents of change with a view to making a positive impact in the world through Global Leader (membership) and the International Exchange Programs. He has also been working as a Unilever Brand Ambassador since January 2016 where he has promoted their youth interactive programs; such as the Unilever Africa Idea Trophy (which he is semi-finalist for this year’s edition) across the Central University campuses. His strong passion for youth development has caused him to start the Jump Start Your Career train which he runs with AIESEC and Unilever on university campuses so that students and youth would know about the opportunities these two organizations offer and how they can benefit from it. The first edition was hosted on the Central University Miotso campus in March 2017. They seek to visit Ghana Institute of Journalism, Regent University of Science and Technology, Academic City College, University of Health and Allied Science among others before the end of the year. His love for young people to develop themselves spans beyond AIESEC and Unilever. Its spans just being ready for the job market. It about the self-discovery. The point where you know who you are, what you stand for and make it a point to start something on your own without settling for less. The point where you push all buttons till you make it, without faking it. AIESEC in Central University is one of the fastest growing local chapter of AIESEC within the west African region, with very active social media pages and delivered tens of impactful exchange experiences in which participants have gained professional skills and changed individual lives around the world while contributing to the SDGs. Mr. Cole’s love for self-discovery, youth development and the SDGs landed him an interview with one of the region’s most popular magazine, HR Revolution Middle East, where he shared his view on the same topic.
