Last weekend, Dreams College of Creative Arts held its annual graduation and fashion gala.

The event which was hosted at idrowhyte residence in Dansoman saw 24 students who successfully completed all the prescribed courses during their duration of study in the institution graduate at a beautiful Convocation ceremony.

In an interview with Ameyaw TV, the “honcho” of DCCA- GHANA,  Dr Clement Asemnyra expressed his excitement that despite the many challenges Covid-19 has brought, they were able to hold the ceremony.

Speaking on the stance of the fashion industry in Ghana, the award-winning designer stated that designers need to move from looking at it as a hobby to making it a profession.

“The fashion industry in Ghana is on and off for me…if you ask me to name top 5 fashion designers in Ghana I’ll struggle. I could mention 5 designers in the past years.,” he stated.

“There’s a problem when it comes to sustainability of brands. Today you see the brand all over the place and within a year or two you don’t hear about them. It all boils down to the strategy of the brand,” he added.

He also encouraged designers to build the proper structures and build a team of professionals that will help them sustain their brands.
