To say Mikal Asher is a Reggae Artist born in Jamaica, is just not enough. Mikal Asher is a member of the musically Blessed Morgan Family. His birth name is Michael Morgan. He is younger brother to Denroy Morgan, which makes him Uncle to Grammy award winning Reggae band Morgan Heritage.

Mikal is a member of the Rastafarian organization, Twelve Tribes of Israel. He is from the Tribe of Asher, so this is why he goes by the stage name Mikal Asher. “I feel that when one has been awakened to a new state of consciousness, this must be accompanied by a name change. In the Bible Abram’s name was changed to Abraham, Jacob’s name was changed to Israel and I feel that Mikal Asher represents my new state of awareness of the higher self, or as my brethren XLNC puts it, the ‘Awakened Soul’.”

In 1995 Mikal Asher did what many Rastas have been dreaming and singing about for decades. He turned his back on Babylon and repatriated to Africa (Ghana). When Asher arrived in Ghana, he brought with him Musical equipment and instruments that was the talk of the town. He had arguably, one of the best PA system in West Africa. He eventually established “Jahmikal Entertainment” Ghana LTD in 1997. Once word got out that this type of world class equipment was in Ghana, all the major artiste from Jamaica requested for Asher’s equipment before they would take a show. Artist such as Buju Banton, Rita Marley, Culture, Steele Pulse and many more requested for Asher’s equipment.

In 1999 Mikal released the “Binghiman” album at the very popular Paradise night club. He followed the release with a tour of Ghana. He performed in Accra, Kumasi, Ivory Coast, Volta Region (Ho), Takoradi, Koforidua and of course Somanya. Asher was invited to perform at Alpha Blondy’s Fiesta, which was held in Abidjan Ivory Coast. Asher immediately secured a production deal with Alpha Blondy Records and a distribution deal with Show Biz records in Ivory Coast.

In 2001 Asher produced the “Armageddon” album in Ivory Coast. After doing the preliminary radio, TV and Newspaper promotions, Asher was scheduled to tour Ivory Coast to promote the album. Unfortunately, 2001 was the year that
saw two airplanes crash into the “world Trade Center” buildings. They called it 911. Asher went back to America and no one has heard from him for almost 20 years. Well now he is back. Brand new album with brand new hits. Stay tuned.
