The Adisadel success story: Nana Osae Nyampong shares the most cherish-able characteristics the school instilled in him
The Board Chairman of Gensar Energy, Nana Osae Nyampong, has over 33 years’ experience as an entrepreneur in diverse industries, including procurement and logistics, real estate and trucking.
Although the 70-year-old Kamenahene of the Akwamu Traditional Area has worked hard to achieve all his successes, he attributes his training from Adisadel College as the shaping point of his life.
Ahead of the Launch and Fund raising dinner off the Adisadel College Millennium (2000) year group, Nana Osae sat down with Ameyaw TV’s Zeinat Issahaku to share some of his experiences as a Santa Clausian, and how those experiences shaped who he is today.
Nana Osae Nyampong’s first contact with Adisadel College was at age 13, as he reminisces some of the most cherish-able characteristics the school instilled in him, he believes those characteristics were essential to his upbringing.
“I got to Adisadel before I was 13 years old. I was a very fragile boy but five years later, Adisadel had transformed me into a self-reliant man,” he tells Zeinat.
“The school is endowed with a peculiar characteristic, that is, if you go and you are supplanted in the middle of a desert, Adisadel would have taught you how to survive. So my days at Adisadel I cherish them so much. And probably that’s why I attribute all my success, if any to my time at Adisadel,” he added.
Nana Osae Nyampong, who holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon, credits 60% of his success to Adisadel, 30% to his mom and the remaining 10% to himself.
As the Patron of the Adisadel college Millennium (2000) year group, Nana Osae Nyampong is constructing a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) block for his alma mater.
He believes Science is a very important part of our world today, hence should be brought to the doorstep of the younger generation.
“… if I had done science, I’m sure I wouldn’t be facing difficulty in understanding energy solutions now. Now the engineers have to speak to me slowly and I indeed the world is moving towards science so those who come after us must be prepared for the future,” he tells Zeinat in the interview.
Nana Osae Nymapong takes pride in giving employment to 175 people who are more qualified than he is at his company.
He also believes consistency and patience are the two most important qualities any entrepreneur should have in order to be successful.
“Consistency, when you want to grow a business, you must have patience because from seeding to maturity for any business is not less than 10 years. So if you don’t have the patience for your idea to mature, go and do trading instead,” he advised.
