The 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) with Zain is looking more exciting with MTV revealing that 2face, Cabo Snoop and DJ Arafat will join the list of performers lined up for the awards ceremony  on December 11, at the Eko Expo Hall, Lagos. They join previously announced performers Daddy Owen, Teargas, Fally Ipupa and Banky W.

Former MAMA winner 2face is one of Nigeria’s most famous musical exports, whose music videos regularly achieve A-list rotation on MTV base.  The charismatic Nigerian star, whose iconic track ‘African Queen’ was the first music video played on MTV base when it launched in 2005, was awarded a MAMA for Best R&B at the MAMA in Kenya in 2009 and numbers a MOBO, a World Music Award and a KORA award among his many accolades.

Angolan musician Cabo Snoop is almost as well known for his dance moves as his music.  The Kuduro star seamlessly blends Hip Hop, R&B, Break Dance and House Music into one harmonious and infectious whole that makes you want to dance too – as best demonstrated by his eminently danceable single, “Windeck”, which has topped the Angolan charts in 2010.  Cabo Snoop was appointed MTV base Brand New artist for October 2010, in recognition of his talent and huge potential inside Angola and across the continent.

At just 24 years old, DJ Arafat is well on his way to becoming one of Africa’s most compelling artists thanks to his exciting interpretation of Coupé Décalé, the percussive dance movement loved by Francophone Africa.  The young man from the Cote d’Ivoire, know as “Le Yoroba” in his home country, has an impeccable musical ancestry, with the singer Tina Spencer for his mother and celebrated producer Houon Pierre as his dad.  DJ Arafat’s 2009 album “Gladiator” proves that his parents’ musical genes are still thriving! His first hit “kpangor” was an internet hit while his current single “Djessimidjéka” is currently getting heavyweight airplay on MTV base.
