In her current role, she leads an integrated team comprising Enterprise Sales, Products Development & Marketing, Commercial Management & Analytics in delivering Commercial Plans for all Enterprise segments.

  1. How did you end up in your role as a Chief Business officer?

After serving as the Head of Corporate Sales at Vodafone Business Solutions in Ghana, I was approached by an international recruiter who was searching for a candidate to fill a vacant position. Following four rounds of interviews, I was eventually chosen for the role.

  1. What do you think helped you get so far in your career?

Focusing on the task at hand, pursuing excellence, being receptive to new knowledge, and confronting difficulties and obstacles head-on by overcoming them.

  1. Has mentorship played a role in your career?

Mentorship played a key role in my career growth, and I was fortunate to have been mentored by women in senior leadership positions who became my role models. I believe that it’s important for women to lift each other up and encourage each other in our career journeys.

  1. What do you see as the biggest barrier to embracing equity of women in the economy, especially in Technology/STEM (Science, Technology. Engineering. Mathematics) and what more needs to be done?

One of the barriers for women in STEM fields is gender stereotyping, where these fields are often seen as masculine and reserved for men. Additionally, there are fewer female role models to inspire interest in these fields. To address this, we need to start promoting STEM education from an early age, positioning it as problem-solving through innovative and creative methods. This will help narrow the gender pay gap, create a diverse and talented STEM workforce, enhance women’s economic security, and prevent biases in STEM fields and the products and services we produce for consumers.

  1. What is the most important message you want to send to young women thinking about their careers?

Self-belief is crucial – believe that you have the potential to climb the corporate ladder just like anyone else. Work hard and aim for excellence. Don’t hesitate to pursue new opportunities. Seek guidance from mentors to support you on your journey.

  1. On the backdrop of 2023’s International Women’s Day theme “Embrace Equity”, do you think society is embracing equity? In your line of work, is equity something we are inching closer to?

I believe that there is still room for improvement when it comes to society embracing equity. The goal of equity is to remove systemic and structural barriers that hinder people from succeeding. In my line of work, we strive for equity and make efforts to give women equal opportunities, but there is still room for improvement.

  1. At your level, what actions do you take towards gender equality in your workplace?

I make sure that there is equal opportunity for everyone, particularly women, when it comes to recruitment and placement in my department. Additionally, I ensure that all employees have access to the necessary resources to successfully complete any task assigned to them.

  1. What advice will you give women struggling in a male-dominated industry?

Continuous self-improvement is key, and it’s important not to engage in unhealthy competition. Being focused, open to learning, and embracing adversity are important traits for success.

  1. What positive changes have you seen regarding women in the workplace since you started your career?

In recent years, there has been more equity in the workplace, including greater access to resources and opportunities for women. However, there is still room for improvement.

  1. What three values govern the way you live your life?

Integrity, Excellence and Godliness

The AirtelTigo International Women’s Day Profiling campaign spans over a month and is aimed at celebrating women in their respective workplaces. The campaign is designed to recognize and highlight the significant contributions made by women to the growth and success of the company. Through this campaign, AirtelTigo aims to promote gender equity and encourage women to strive for excellence in their careers. Overall, the campaign seeks to promote gender diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

Four Foods to Avoid to Protect Your Prostate Health

Published

on

ameyaw eating

It may sound like an old wife’s tale, but the saying “you are what you eat” is scientifically proven. Studies have shown that foods improve health through the human body’s phytochemicals and other bioactive molecules. Health supplements like Prostate911 can also add benefits to the human body. In particular, science touts the phenols in red fruits and vegetables are beneficial.

Phytochemicals can also have adverse effects on specific organs when ingested. In addition to antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins, certain plants produce phytohormones. These molecules interact with glands in the body. The prostate is sensitive to many ingested bioactive compounds in good and bad ways.

What’s the Worst Thing That Can Happen?

There are a range of conditions that can be affected by ingested biomolecules. For example, the prostate sits below and presses against the bladder. When enlarged from Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH), infection, or cancer, it can cause frequent urination.

The trigone is a triangular-shaped structure on the bottom front of the bladder. The trigone senses pressure from urine accumulation within the bladder and tells you when to urinate. Compressed from an enlarged prostate below sends a false message to the brain. It feels like you have to go, but there is little or no urine.

The prostate gland surrounds the ureter. The ureter carries urine from the bladder through the penis. Consequently, when the prostate swells inside, it can compress the ureter.

When the trigone tells you to pee, you have difficulty starting urine flow from the compressed ureter. In addition, you may have a feeble stream and not empty your bladder fully. It can block urine flow altogether, requiring an emergency urinary catheter to relieve urinary retention.

The seminal vesicles that hold sperm sit on the top of each side of the prostate. During ejaculation, the sperm mixes with the seminal fluid the prostate makes. Therefore, any change in the prostate gland’s shape or size impedes the seminal vesicles’ normal functioning. This can, in turn, put pressure down the vas deferens (tube between the testes and the seminal vesicles that transport sperm cells) and produce testicular symptoms like pain and swelling.

Cancer of the prostate occurs in 13% of all men. It kills 2-3%. Bioactive food compounds can play a role in preventing or encouraging prostate cancer.

Many men know the benefit of supplementing saw palmetto for an enlarged prostate. However, few men can name any plant-based supplement or other food that hurts the prostate. Remember the adage “all things in moderation.” Here are four foods to avoid to protect your prostate’s health.

  • Red Meat

Red meats, specifically cooked red meats, can contribute to the risk of prostate cancer. Heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) form when you cook red meat. Research suggests that these compounds are carcinogenic.

The more well done you cook the meat, the more HCAs and PAHs are formed. Consequently, a well-done steak is potentially more dangerous than a rare one. However, it is not just the cancer risk that red meat poses.

Scientific studies have revealed a direct correlation between red meat consumption and benign prostatic hypertrophy. In fact, men who ingest red meat daily are three times more likely to develop an enlarged prostate. The research suggests that red meat is a food to avoid to protect your prostate health.

  • Caffeine

Coffee, tea, sodas, and chocolate all contain caffeine. Caffeine is chemically related to sympathetic amines. Sympathetic amines are drugs like stimulants and adrenaline. This class of compounds causes increased heart rate and blood pressure and is responsible for the ‘fight or flight” response.

Caffeine constricts the bladder and neck muscles just above the prostate. This is so you don’t urinate when under stress. So, caffeine consumption can produce or accentuate urinary symptoms if you have benign prostatic hypertrophy or borderline prostate enlargement.

That doesn’t mean you can never have a candy bar or have to give up Starbucks. Try to limit your total daily caffeine intake. Do not try to withdraw caffeine abruptly. You may get a significant headache.

  • Salt

Anyone with high blood pressure or heart disease knows they should avoid salt. The reason is that salt causes swelling in the feet and legs, and increased blood pressure can also make the prostate gland swell. Salt is hydrophobic and osmotic; it attracts fluid.

Salt alone should not cause the prostate to swell enough to produce symptoms. However, if the gland is already enlarged due to age or other factors, it can precipitate or worsen symptoms. Therefore, limiting salt intake is recommended for anyone with BPH.

Many need to realize the salt content of everyday foods. Limiting adding salt from the shaker is an excellent first step, but consider limiting processed foods, salted snacks like chips and salted nuts, and meats preserved or made with salt like bacon and sausage.

  • Alcohol

It may be painful for some to realize that alcohol is one of the foods to avoid to protect your prostate health. Do you consider alcohol a “food?” Technically alcohol is a food because it supplies calories, although they are what nutritionists call “empty calories.” Alcohol produces negative actions in several places that affect prostate health.

Alcohol suppresses antidiuretic hormone (ADH) in the body. That means it acts like a diuretic, producing more urine. Of course, anyone with any prostate issue would prefer to urinate less, not more.

In addition to urinary frequency, alcohol, like caffeine, constricts the bladder’s neck muscles. Consequently, take a little BPH and add alcohol, and suddenly it becomes symptomatic.

One study showed that excessive alcohol suppressed prostate-specific antigen (PSA). This could lead to a delayed diagnosis of prostate cancer. Having a cancer diagnosis as early as possible is preferable, so there is time to perform treatment before the situation worsens.

Practice Moderation

The Roman playwright Plautus wrote 200 years before the common era, “observe due measure; moderation is best in all things.” This advice is salient today when considering foods to avoid to protect your prostate health. It is never too late to start viewing how your diet affects your prostate health. Adding in exercise and getting the best treadmill desk will help along the journey.

The Criminal Charges that Shook Martha Stewart’s World

Published

on

Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart has had a long and impressive career as a businesswoman, but it was a series of criminal charges that ultimately shook her world. In 2003, Stewart was charged with falsely reporting to federal investigators regarding her sale of ImClone Systems stock. Despite the legal troubles, Stewart maintained her innocence and eventually had her conviction overturned. This blog post will explore the criminal charges against Martha Stewart and their impact on her life.

The charges against Martha Stewart

On June 4th, 2003, Martha Stewart was indicted on four counts of obstructing justice and making false statements relating to a probe into her sale of ImClone Systems Inc. stock. The charges also included securities fraud and conspiracy. The government alleged that Stewart engaged in insider trading and attempted to conceal her actions by lying to investigators.

She was accused of illegally profiting from the sale of ImClone stock before the company announced bad news about a new drug, which caused the stock to drop. Furthermore, the prosecution alleged that she had tried to hide her involvement in the stock transaction by backdating documents. Along with the indictment, Stewart was also charged with tax fraud relating to her failure to pay taxes on her illegal profits.

Martha Stewart

The trial of Martha Stewart began in January 2004 and ended in March 2004. After twelve days of deliberation, the jury found Stewart guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and making false statements. After being released from prison in March 2005, Stewart returned to her roles as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.

In addition to the criminal charges, Stewart was also sued for civil fraud and later settled with the SEC for $195,000. To this day, her conviction remains one of the most famous white-collar cases in American history.

The trial and verdict:

Martha Stewart was put on trial for the charges of obstruction of justice, securities fraud, and making false statements to federal investigators. The charges related to her insider trading in ImClone Systems stock. During the trial, the prosecution argued that Martha Stewart had sold her ImClone stock based on inside information given to her by her broker Peter Bacanovic, who was also facing charges. In addition, the prosecution argued that Martha Stewart’s tax fraud was committed by not accurately reporting the sale of the stock on her taxes.

She was sentenced to five months in prison, two years of supervised release, and a $30,000 fine. After her release from prison in 2005, Martha Stewart became a vocal advocate of criminal justice reform. She has written about her experience in various books and articles and has spoken out on the need for rehabilitation programs for prisoners as opposed to long sentences for non-violent crimes.

The aftermath

The criminal charges that Martha Stewart faced were severe, and the verdicts she received a conviction for lying to federal investigators and obstruction of justice were even more severe. Even though he was being held in custody, Stewart never wavered in his insistence that he was innocent, even though the investigation into the incident was far from being concluded. She was required to deal with the civil penalties imposed by the SEC as well as several shareholder lawsuits that claimed damages for her alleged involvement in insider trading and lying to investigators. The shareholder lawsuits claimed damages for her alleged involvement in insider trading and lying to investigators. The lawsuits filed on behalf of shareholders sought damages for her alleged involvement in insider trading and for lying to investigators. The plaintiffs in these lawsuits were looking for compensation for the harms and losses that they had experienced as a direct result of the event.

In the end, Stewart resolved the dispute with the plaintiffs in the lawsuit by paying them a combined total of $7.5 million to reach a settlement with them and prevent future legal action. In addition to this, she had to conform to new restrictions imposed by the SEC, which greatly curtailed her capacity to deal in securities. Moreover, she was required to pay a fine for violating these laws.

The conviction of Martha Stewart needs to act as a huge wake-up call to the significant wake-up call for everybody who is involved in the business sector. It served as a reminder that even the wealthiest and most successful individuals are still obligated to obey the rules, and if they don’t, they will be held accountable for their actions. It also served as a reminder that if they don’t obey the rules, they will be held accountable for their activities. It also served as a reminder that if they do not follow the rules, they will be held accountable for their acts. If they do not follow the rules, they will be held accountable for their actions.

Conclusion

The criminal allegations that shook Martha Stewart’s world brought about significant shifts in all facets of her life, including her personal life, her professional life, and her financial life. These shifts were brought about as a direct result of the claims. As a consequence of her participation in criminal offenses such as insider trading as well as other unlawful acts, she was found guilty and given a sentence that required her to serve time in prison in addition to being forced to pay substantial fines.

Her sentence was handed down as a consequence of her participation in criminal offenses. In the end, the accusations brought a significant amount of unfavorable attention to both her and her company. As a direct consequence of this emphasis, she was unable to achieve the same degree of success that she had previously appreciated.

Pepsodent is on a mission to get millions of people to their first dental visit through free Teledental consultations

Published

on

WOHD KV 1

More than 6 out of 10 people in Ghana (66%) have never visited a dentist due to lack of access. Lack of professional care means oral problems often go untreated, resulting in worsening conditions, pain, and other health issues. In Ghana, 1 in 4 people over the age of 5 have untreated caries on permanent teeth and 4 out of 6 lose all their teeth by age 65.

In light of this, Pepsodent’s new global campaign – Now Everyone Can #TalkToADentist was launched today to mark World Oral Health Day 2023 and to encourage people to take the first step to improve their oral health with a free Teledental consultation.

Today, there are more than 10,000 people for every dentist in Ghana, even though the World Health Organisation recommends a dentist-population ratio of 1 dentist per 7,500 people. Given this severe lack of access, millions of people have never been to a dentist. This means that oral health problems often go untreated. 25% of Ghanaians over the age of 5 have untreated caries of permanent teeth, which affects quality of life and wellbeing, and means people suffer from largely preventable pain. Additionally, there is an adverse economic impact as this results in people missing work due to pain and discomfort, leading to $161 million total productivity loss worldwide. Pepsodent Ghana is on a mission to change this and help those who have never been to a dentist take the first step to improve their oral health.

Adopting the belief that everyone should have access to quality dental health advice and care, Pepsodent Ghanaaims to give millions of people the opportunity to access professional dentist advice for free through its teledentistry service. The service is made freely available for everyone and can be conveniently accessed via mobile devices using direct links or USSDs. It connects people with dentists in real time, who can help identify causes of an oral care problem and provide professional advice to address the problem at home, where possible. If at-home care is not suitable, the patient will be given advice about how to seek professional help at a clinic. Now everyone can talk to a dentist.

Osato Evbuomwan, Category Manager, Oral Care Ghana, says, “A core value of our brand is to prevent oral disease for everyone. We want to make the process of accessing a dentist as seamless as possible, to provide quality dental advice and care, especially for those who have never been to a dentist before. Our teledentistry service and dental camps have been introduced to give people access to professional oral healthcare, no matter where they are. Our World Oral Health Day 2023 campaign, ‘Now Everyone Can #TalkToADentist’ encourages people to take the first step to improving their oral health by going for their first dental visit, for free.”

Dr. Paapa Puplampu, President of the Ghana Dental Association, also emphasized, “A large proportion of the population has never been to the dentist, not even once. To change this reality, our job is to help people take the first step towards better oral health by providing them with easy and convenient access to dental consultations. Pepsodent Ghana’s teledentistry and dental camps services will help to improve people’s habits and hopefully encourage them to regularly go for check-ups to avoid costly procedures in the future”.

Alongside this year’s campaign, ‘Now Everyone Can #TalkToADentist’, Pepsodent will be launching its teledentistry service which consumers can utilise on their mobile phones through designated shortcodes. Interested dental professionals can reach out to Pepsodent on their social media accounts or with the contacts provided, or they can contact relevant members from the Ghana Dental Association or Ministry of Health. Monthly dental camps will also be located across the different regions to provide screening and other oral health care services, so all are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity and share their experiences on social media.

This World Oral Health Day, Pepsodent Ghana is urging everyone to take the first step to improve their oral health with a free Teledental consultation. You can access the service by scanning the QR code with the camera on yourmobile phone device and tap the chat now button to talk to a dentist or call the toll-free number 0800 161 000 and follow the voice prompts alternatively visit https://www.pepsodent.com/gh for more details.

All About Transaction Per Second (TPS)

Published

on

Transaction

One term often thrown around in the world of cryptocurrencies is Transaction Per Second (TPS). It is a metric defining the number of transactions a blockchain network can handle in a second. The higher the TPS, the more efficient and faster the network can process transactions. TPS has become an essential metric for measuring the scalability and efficiency of blockchain networks, especially those designed for high-volume transactions like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at TPS, why it matters, and how it affects the performance of blockchain networks.

What is Transaction Per Second (TPS)?

TPS refers to the number of transactions a blockchain network can process in a single second. It is a measure of how fast the network can handle transactions. In simple terms, it is the speed at which transactions are confirmed and added to the blockchain. TPS is critical for measuring the efficiency and scalability of blockchain networks. The higher the TPS, the more transactions the network can handle at any given time.

Why is TPS important?

TPS is crucial for measuring the scalability and efficiency of blockchain networks. It is particularly relevant for networks that handle high-volume transactions like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The higher the TPS, the more transactions can be processed simultaneously, leading to faster and more efficient transaction processing. In addition, a high TPS can help reduce transaction costs, as more transactions can be processed without higher fees.

TPS is also essential for the adoption of blockchain technology in various industries. For example, in the financial industry, a high TPS is crucial for processing large volumes of transactions quickly and efficiently. A low TPS could result in slower transaction processing times, leading to delays, higher costs, and decreased customer satisfaction. Therefore, blockchain networks with higher TPS are more likely to be adopted by industries that require fast and secure transaction processing.

How Does TPS Affect the Performance of Blockchain Networks?

TPS has a direct impact on the performance of blockchain networks. A high TPS means the network can handle more transactions simultaneously, resulting in faster confirmation times and a more efficient network. In contrast, a low TPS can lead to slower confirmation times, higher transaction fees, and congestion on the web, resulting in delays and increased costs.

However, increasing TPS is a complex task, requiring changes to the underlying blockchain protocol. Increasing TPS can also lead to trade-offs, such as decreased security or increased centralization. Therefore, blockchain developers must balance TPS with other factors such as security, decentralization, and consensus mechanisms.

Conclusion

TPS is a critical metric for measuring the scalability and efficiency of blockchain networks. A higher TPS can lead to faster transaction processing times, reduced costs, and increased adoption by industries that require fast and secure transaction processing. However, increasing TPS is sometimes straightforward and requires trade-offs between TPS, security, decentralization, and consensus mechanisms. As blockchain technology evolves, it will be interesting to see how developers balance these factors to increase TPS while maintaining a secure and decentralized network.
