Adesope Olajide criticizes Grammys after Tyla’s win over Davido and Burna Boy
Popular UK-based Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide has vehemently criticized the Grammys, accusing the Recording Academy of exploiting Africa’s population, culture, and artists for promotional purposes.
Olajide highlighted Tyla from South Africa winning the “Best African Music Performance” award over Burna Boy and Davido as evidence of the Grammys’ disconnect with African pop music. Calling for a boycott, he expressed frustration at what he perceives as the organization’s lack of understanding and appreciation for African culture.
