Renowned Ghanaian media personality, Shirley Emma Tibilla, well known in the media space as Cookie Tee, has shared her thoughts on the resignation of Ghanaian politician, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his decision to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 general election.

According to her, the politician is only feeling a pinch of what the ordinary Ghanaians have been feeling all these years.

Her statement comes after Alan Kyeremanten indicated in his speech on Monday, September 25, 2023, that the NPP’s Super Delegates Conference held in August, 2023 was strategically and tactically skewed in favour of one particular aspirant, emphasizing that the level of intimidation and monetization that characterized the conference was unprecedented in the history of internal elections of the Party.

Speaking as one of the hosts on TV3’s Newday show, Cookie questioned the politician on his knowledge of the number of Ghanaians who are managing in the current economic hardship. She expressed concern about the hardship Ghanaians face, especially the youth.

According to her, she is not against Alan breaking away from the NPP but only wants him to have a fair idea of how the economy amongst other things have been skewed in favour of certain people leaving some Ghanaian vulnerable.

”Do you know the number of Ghanaians who are managing in this economy? And then you are saying the NPP’s Super Delegates Conference skewed in favour of one particular aspirant. Do you know how this whole political, economical and social environment has been skewed towards a few to just be enjoying whilst the rest of us suffer?’ You are only feeling a pinch of what Ghanaians have been feeling,” she said.
