On Friday the 20th of December 2019, AnimaxFYB Studios will launch its latest project; “Tutu – An Untold Story Of A Kingdom”. The event is scheduled to begin at 7pm Alliance Francaise.
The centerpiece of the event is the proof of concept video showing. However other activities include a panel discussion with our animators and the head writer of the series, Yaw Firempong Boakye(a film director and lecturer at the National Film and Television Institute), a performance by Pure Akan and a food and networking session.
The studio is an animation, design and visual effects studio at East Legon, Accra.
Primarily motivated by our vision to document, preserve and share authentic African stories through animation, our most notable historical animation movie remains Agorkorli. Agorkoli is an animated short film about the migration story of the Ewe people in South Eastern Ghana, released in 2015 to global and critical acclaim.
Our new project, TUTU tells the story of King Osei Tutu I and the formation of the 17th century Ashanti Kingdom. A re-imagination of the story as an epic historical adventure.
Historically, the Ashanti Kingdom in its prime was one of the greatest kingdoms in the world, and yet, most tellings of this important aspect of our history are either inaccurate, vague or both. Surprising, because the history makes for a compelling plot.
Osei Tutu, heir to the stool of Kwaaman, is sent to Denkyira to serve. His actions in the royal court causes his path to cross with Okomfo Anokye. Okomfo Anokye, a young and exuberant traditional priest, finds favor in the eyes of the Denkyira royal family. This infuriates the local traditional chiefs and so they get revenge by murdering his mother. Devastated, Okomfo Anokye sets out to create an alliance strong enough to overthrow the ruling Denkyira kingdom. It is here that he teams up with Osei Tutu. Tutu’s thoughtful, pragmatic nature balancing out Anokye’s ambition and exuberance and vice versa, the Prince and the magician embark on an epic adventure. They unite weak, splintered clans, giving them a new identity and a common goal to pursue.
This new alliance fight for their independence from the powerful Denkyira kingdom. They win, establishing a powerful empire that has existed since the 17Th century.
The purpose of the proof of concept video is to provide an example of the writing, directing and cinematography that should be expected for the full length series.
The goal is both to attract potential investors to fund the project and create a full animated series for all major digital streaming platforms and then to stimulate our audience, proofing the film’s viability on the big screen.
Tickets for the event are going for GH 20.00. For ticket purchase, sale or enquiry contact Animaxfyb Studios on all social media platforms @animaxfyb or WhatsApp 0201584719
