The Bongo Flava icon is not only a leader in the world music community, but also in the fight against malaria in his home country of Tanzania . Professor Jay is one of the leading ambassadors for Zinduka! Malaria Haikubaliki
Zinduka Malaria Haikubaliki (meaning “ wake up, malaria is unacceptable”) is an innovative campaign led by the Tanzanian government and supported by partners including Johns Hopkins University, Population Services International and United Against Malaria.
The Zinduka campaign urges all Tanzanians to wake up to the threat of malaria, and join the country’s fight against the disease across the country. In support of this effort, Tanzania’s top talent including Professor Jay wrote and performed a signature campaign pop song titled, ‘Zinduku’—ensuring that all of Tanzania will be moving to a new, malaria-defeating beat.
