Berla Mundi hosts Absa Bank’s cross-continental launch in Ghana



Radio and TV personality, Berla Mundi played the host for Absa Bank’s official introduction in Ghana, which was, linked to similar events other countries across Africa. 
Berla hosted the feed from Ghana, where she reported on happenings at the Accra event to announce the change in name from Barclays Bank Ghana to Absa Bank Ghana.  She also interviewed several guests including Jason Quinn, Group Financial Director for ABSA Group, and Charles Russon , Chief Executive of Corporate and Investment Banking. 
Charles Russon talked about the significance of Absa’s presence in 12 African countries as it connotes unity on the African continent and the need to form a cohesive force for development.

Jason Quinn also expressed how impressed he was with the effort made by the team to successfully launch in Ghana and reiterated Absa’s commitment to bringing possibilities to the lives of Ghanaians and Africans through various innovations and improved products and services.

Speaking about her experience, Berla expressed excitement at having to work with the Absa Brand as an influencer and is looking forward to helping take over the youth space with their various innovations and products.

Barclays Bank Ghana Limited has hence commenced operations as Absa Bank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Absa Group Limited, after receiving all required regulatory approvals from the Bank of Ghana. The name change marks the start of a new era for the bank’s operations as a forward-looking African bank with global reach.
The bank, which has been the most profitable in the industry for the past three years, is a major financier and contributor to key sectors of the Ghanaian economy, including agriculture, education, health, industry and infrastructure among others. Under the Absa brand, the bank has reiterated its commitment to remain a significant player in the financial services sector and the country’s economic development. 
The change to Absa will not cause any change in customers account details and the bank’s branches will continue to operate as usual. Barclays branded cards will continue to work as normal until their date of expiry. Customers can also continue to use their Barclays chequebooks until 10 August 2020, after which only cheques drawn on an Absa chequebook will be accepted.
