Botho University Opens New Campus in Accra
Botho University, a prominent multi-disciplinary tertiary institution, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, inaugurated a campus in Accra, Ghana with the aim of delivering top-tier education to foster sustainable economic development both locally and globally.
The launch of the school which is located on the Jungle Avenue Road in East Legon marks the first establishment in West Africa. Since its establishment in Botswana in the year 1997, Botho University has extended its reach to include campuses in Eswatini, Namibia, and Lesotho, along with a blended and distance learning campus.
The expansion to these countries has enabled the university to offer high-quality higher education to a broader spectrum of students. Accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Botho University Ghana plans to introduce bachelor’s degree programs and has aspirations to incorporate certificate, master’s, and doctoral programs.
The Accra Campus of Botho University also houses a Corporate Training Department that provides a variety of programs for professionals and organizations.
Speaking during the grand lauch of the Institution, the Vice-Chancellor and Managing Director of the University, Dr Sheela Ram highlighted Ghana’s significant role in African history and culture, as well as its substantial youth population with a strong desire for top-notch education.
This motivated Botho University to extend its services to the country and provide higher education comparable to that of contemporary Pan-African universities. Dr. Ram further emphasized that the University would offer an exceptional and personalized learning experience, focusing on a dynamic curriculum, extracurricular activities, a student-centric approach, international exposure, entrepreneurship, career development, and a robust alumni network.
Professor Abhishek Ranjan, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor, West Africa and Blended and Distance Learning (BDL), expressed the University’s commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders in Ghana and beyond through academic excellence and innovative teaching methodologies.
