Camidoh calls on colleagues to appeal FDA ban on celebs endorsing alcohol and betting
“Sugarcane” hitmaker, Camidoh is campaigning for his colleagues in the industry to come together and fight the law preventing them from endorsing/advertising alcoholic beverages in the country.
In 2015, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) banned celebrities in the country from advertising alcoholic beverages, in adherence to a World Health Organization (WHO) policy and efforts to ensure that minors are protected from being lured into alcoholism.
Several celebrities including Shatta Wale, Wendy Shay and others have publicly expressed their displeasure towards the ban.
Joining the tall list of celebrities who are fighting the ban, Camidoh has in a Twitter post asked his colleagues to come together and request for an appeal.
“We in the Creative industry really need to come together and proper appeal the law / embargo on celebrities endorsing alcoholic beverages, betting companies etc..” he tweeted.
According to Camidoh, the ban is not serving its purpose because consumers of alcohol and betting are still indulging, despite the ban.
“In my humble opinion the ban is in no way serving its purpose because we see these betting companies thriving & consumers are consuming these beverages regardless.”
