icons (4) The live recording of the grand finale of Vodafone Icons – Street Edition will take place at the National Theatre on Thursday, September 5 and the final 4 contestants are ready for it. Ryan, Budda, Kelvin and Marion all gave a sweet account of their journey on Vodafone Icons season 3 at a press interaction ahead of the finale. While all 4 remained hopeful of winning the ultimate prize package valued at GHC 250,000, they were pleased with the knowledge, training and exposure they have received from appearing on the show. The prize package includes a brand new Kia Sportage, Samsung products and a recording contract with one of the world’s biggest record label, Universal Music. Gerrard Foster, Head of New Business Development – Sub Sahara Africa at Universal Music Group said that he was excited about partnering with Vodafone Icons and explained that, the partnership would offer the winner of the contest the widest network for distribution, via the world’s biggest record label. icons (5) Describing his experience at the recent live show in Kumasi, Mr Foster said the four finalists present an interesting mix of people and talent and that, the decision to do a solo contest instead of groups like in the previous two season upped the ante. He added, ” Universal is committed to developing the African market but the extent of support depends on the level of commitment. There must be a right mix of the music business and the business of music. At the basic level, Universal Music offers a distribution network which includes platforms like Kleek, while we offer expert advice to industry players.” The finale will include group performances, as well as original songs by all 4 finalists.  The songs will be available for downloading via VodafoneLive.com.gh from Monday, September 9.
