Chef Faila ends GWR Longest Cooking Marathon attempt at 227 hours
Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak, popularly known as Chef Faila, the young Ghanaian lady who embarked on a journey to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual has officially ended her attempt.
Prior to this, the husband of the energetic chef, Lt Reginald Ofusuhene Adjei, together with her management announced that Failatu will be ending her Cook-A-Thon attempt today, January 10, 2024 at 10:00 am. He noted that even though her wife is physically fit to cook for more hours, he can’t afford to put the health of his beloved wife in jeopardy.
Chef Failatu ended her attempt by turning off her fire at 227 hours 2 seconds amid jubilation and cheer from the crowd who had gathered at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale for days.

Ghanaians have taken to various social media platforms to congratulate her, describing her courage, determination and resilience as top notch. Chef Faila would have to submit evidence of her attempt to GWR for review and confirmation. She has unofficially broken her target of 120 hours and has also surpassed the record for the longest cooking marathon, which is currently held by Alan Fisher (Ireland) with a time of 119 hours and 57 minutes.
