The comedy show 01The much talked about renaissance of Ghanaian comedy is finally here, as Citizen Kofi Entertainment (CKE) launches ‘The Comedy show’ on Thursday November 4 with the tag line “If you thought there were no comedians in Ghana, you must be joking!”

The Comedy Show is to give established comedians, as well as up and coming Ghanaian acts, a platform to showcase their talents. It would also give an opportunity for ‘underground’ poets and musicians to showcase their talent.

In an interview with the Marketing manager of Citizen Kofi, Mr Seth Miah he intimated that CKE believes that there are talented Ghanaian comedians, poets and musicians who can shine if given the platform. He mentioned how ‘Funny Face’ recently stole the show at the Night of 1010 Laughs, when in fact it was his first major stage performance.

He added that apart from the maiden show on November 4, ‘The Comedy Show’ would be held fortnightly with the first two editions being a joint collaboration with Laugh Out Loud, a comedy group which comprises David Oscar, Funny Face, DKB, Percy, David Aglah, Nii Yartey and Foster, all of whom are performing on the night. Also performing on the night are James Brown, an ‘underground’ act and Phyllis, who is touted as the princess of Ghanaian comedy.

The unique thing about ‘The Comedy Show’ is that it would unearth talents that hitherto would have gone unnoticed, thereby enriching Ghanaian comedy which needs a revival.

The night would also see Citizen Kofi Entertainment honouring seasoned Standup Acts like KSM, Tommy Annan Forson and Hon. Fritz Baffour for their contribution to comedy and the entertainment industry as a whole. Tickets for the show are available at the gate for GhC15.
