#COVID19: List of Ghanaian celebrities stuck abroad due to the closure of borders
Since the global COVID-19 pandemic broke, some Ghanaian celebrities have been stuck in countries they visited for work or pleasure before the closure of Ghana’s borders.
Here’s a list of celebrities who may soon be home if they join the government’s “special dispensation to be evacuated back to Ghana”.
1. Frederick Nuamah
The CEO of Ghana Movie Awards welcomed the new year in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and has since been stuck in the country due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The movie producer started daily personal marathons to keep fit and sane during the period.
2. Dblack
Musician, record label owner and business mogul Desmond Blackmore popularly known as Dblack had a packed series of shows, appearances and media tours planned for Feb-July 2020.
The ‘OH VERA’ rapper arrived in the United States of America on March 5th 2020 and has been crying to home since.
Moving from state to state, Dblack who’s currently in California has expressed his distress of been stuck abroad.
3. Kwaw Kese
Rapper Kwaw Kese left Ghana for the USA to perform at concerts he was billed on late February.
After successfully shutting it down at the ‘Ghana @63 Independence Day Show’ in Washington DC and Atlanta, Kwaw was forced to stay in Atlanta due to COVID-19.
4. Samini
Musician Samini arrived in Canada to perform at his ‘Samini Live In Calgary’ show and has since been stuck in the cold.
While in Canada, the High-Grade Family & Music CEO, hosted and performed for his fans on the ‘Samini UNTAMED Virtual Concert’ which streamed on YouTube Live.
5. Pappy Kojo
After a successfully killing shows in Ghana last December, Pappy Kojo returned to Italy in January.
While there, he attended the Milan Fashion Week and had front row seats to most shows he was spotted at.
The joy of being away from Ghana will soon vanish and be replaced with anguish when COVID-19 broke.
No Ghanaian celebrity has advocated return back home as much as Pappy Kojo has. From constant tweets at the President to Instagram post, Pappy Kojo even had Sarkodie pleading on his behalf.

However, the pleas of these celebrities to return home have not gone to waste as President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that Ghanaian nationals abroad will soon be evacuated back to Ghana.
The President, in his 10th nation update on COVID-19 on Sunday, May 31, 2020, eased restrictions on public gatherings but the country’s borders remain closed until further notice.
However, he indicated that “given that there are Ghana residents stranded abroad, a special dispensation is going to be given for their evacuation back to Ghana, where they will be subjected to the mandatory quarantine and safety protocols”.
Although the President didn’t give a definite date for the evacuation, it comes as good news that the musicians’ calls have been heeded.
