The much hyped Kumasi homecoming concert of highlife veteran, Daddy Lumba failed to happen in the Garden City due to a bad sound setup. The sold out event saw thousands of revelers hit the venue to see the music superstar perform but ended up with disappointment and frustration when the concert was cancelled.
In a statement signed Kwabena Agyeman-Kobia, Event Publicist, the management of Home Proud Entertainment, organizers of the ‘Homecoming Concert’ in Kumasi, has apologized to patrons for the sad incident.
“We wish to apologize unreservedly to the thousands of music lovers who had thronged the premises of Royal Lamerta, venue for the event, for the massive disappointment and embarrassment arising out of Daddy Lumba’s inability to perform as promised.
The management takes full responsibility of the unfortunate incident, absolving the artiste and the hotel of any wrong doing. The unfortunate incident occurred due to technical challenges with the sound set up.”
Mr. Kobia also added that an unenthused Daddy Lumba is committed to resolving the impasse; and that in spite of his disappointment, the music icon was overwhelmed by the large number of people that turned out on Boxing Day to see him. There are plans to restage the concert on New Year, January 1 at the same venue for patrons using their old tickets.
