DANELSA, A story book by 15-year-old Daniella Dagadu

Growing up in a typical Ghanaian home, most children are encouraged to read story books that help develop cognitive abilities. From having to read Ananse story books to Cinderella story books, we can all relate to the fact that stories are a very important part of most people’s childhood.

However, very few children are being encouraged to tap into their creativity to put together intriguing and equally standard story books they read. Daniella Sena Dagadu seems to be an exception in this case. Daniella is a 15-year-old first year student currently at Aburi Girls Senior High school. Growing up as the last born of 3 children, there were plenty of story books for her to read, given to her by her older siblings.

“I always enjoyed reading books, they didn’t even have to be story books” she explained. At age 11 she showed keen interest in writing and didn’t waste what her imagination presented to her. She started writing the story for “Danelsa”, her first published story book.

Danelsa is a story book for school going children, very intriguing with a great mixture of suspense and certainty. With the use of great literature by the author, readers will be able to explore with their imagination the contents of the book. More importantly, it gives young readers the motivation to put their own imagination into words, producing equally good content.
