Davido beats D’banj, Mercy Johnson topples Genevieve Nnaji in the most googled list

Google has announced its annual Zeitgeist, a look at 2012 through the collective eyes of the world on the web, offering a unique perspective on this year’s major events and hottest trends based on searches conducted in Nigeria. Notable on the list for overall trending Nigerian searches in 2012 are education-related terms; “JAMB”, “WAEC result 2012”  and “ASUU Strike” – This shows that Nigerian students are now resorting to the internet to gather crucial information about happenings in the academic space. In Nigerian ‘celebritydom’, it seems that the new kids are in demand, retiring some major stars who have led searches in past years. New sensation, Davido topped the list of musicians perhaps following his controversial photos from a one night stand with a Nigerian student in Ghana.  Davido was followed by Wizkid, MI, Dbanj, Psquare, Timaya, Ice Prince, Tiwa Savage, Tuface, Flavour in that order. The saucy Mercy Johnson topped the actors catogory. She was followed by Ini Edo, Tonto Dike, Funke Akindele, Genevieve Nnaji, Jim Iyke, Chika Ike, Van Vickers, Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke in that order.]]>
