This 12-year-old who was defiled by a 55-year-old man is about to be denied Justice because she couldn’t present positive examination results on time

Published

on

Twelve-year-old Ama (real name withheld), who has been defiled by 55-year-old Amadu Umar, may be denied justice because her representatives could not make it on time to the police station to present results from her examination.

According to Hajia (real name withheld) who is currently providing protection to Ayishatu and her mother, the CID in charge of the case at the Odorkor Police Station, Madam Beatrice, gave her an ultimatum of 20 minutes earlier today, to report at the station or she grants bail to the offender.

Hajia in a phone interview with Ameyaw TV’s Zeinat Issahak, revealed that Ama had been defiled two months ago, however, because her mum was not familiar with the law, she failed to report it immediately.

“Ama was defiled since she was nine years old but her mum only got to know about it 2 months ago. Because her mum is an illiterate and didn’t know issues of the law, she first sent the complaint to the chief’s palace. She took it to the chiefs at Ablekuma but they couldn’t handle it so they proceeded to an Islamic marital court and it was through that the Police were involved,” Sakinah explained.

Hajia added that after they finally got the Police, involved, on Saturday, December 4, a thorough examination was done on Ama at the Mamprobi Polyclinic which came out positive, and confirming that indeed she had been defiled.

Ayishatu’s examination results!

However, Hajia revealed that they were to present the test results to the CID on Monday, December, 6, but due to the strike by the public transport drivers, they couldn’t make it to the police station.

Haji tells Ameyaw TV’s Zeinat that when she called the CID to explain the circumstances, she was told to present the test results within 20 minutes or she grants the offender bail.

Hajia is therefore seeking for legal help on the way forward to make sure that Ama gets Justice.

This story is still developing and we are still in contact with Hajia to find out if indeed the offender, Amadu Umar has been given bail as stated by the CID.
