According to the singer, her manager once advised her to stick to singing exclusively in either English or her local dialect, Twi. However, destiny had other plans in store for her artistic expression. She revealed that when she received the inspiration for “Work in Progress,” the lyrics flowed in English, challenging her initial dilemma of choosing a language.
Diana Hamilton in Seeking guidance and encouragement, consulted her colleague musician, Kwame Yeboah, who served as a source of inspiration and motivation. He reassured her that she didn’t necessarily need to add chords to the song, but rather just let the message speak for itself.
She explained that “ I think my confidence in mixing it up actually started with Work in Progress. I was working with this guy called Kwame Yeboah and I was writing this song and I was like; This is the message I have ‘Because I’m a work in progress’ and I was like how do I put chords to this because I don’t play.”
