Don’t Wait to Be Rich – Pastor Otabil Encourages Early Marriage Commitment
In today’s world, many people believe that you need to be financially secure before getting married. But Pastor Mensa Otabil, the Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has a different view.
In a recent sermon that has caught a lot of attention, he urged single men and women not to wait until they have wealth to commit to marriage.
With personal stories and clear advice, Pastor Otabil encouraged people to focus on love and commitment instead of just money.
During the sermon, the celebrated Man of God who doubles as an educator and an entrepreneur recounted a personal experience, disclosing that he was not financially well-off at the time of his marriage, to the point where he had to paint a bench white to serve as furniture in their residence.

“If you’re waiting to be rich before you marry, then your head is not working properly,” Pastor Otabil stated in the viral video. “You don’t want to marry, but you’re sleeping together. You want what’s reserved for marriage without going through the process. Be bold and marry,” he said
Pastor Otabil went on to assert that the church is prepared to bless couples who wish to have a simple marriage ceremony, free from the pressures of elaborate celebrations.
“Set the date. If you’re afraid of a veil, don’t wear one; if you’re nervous about a gown, don’t wear it. Just come to the church office and say, ‘This is the woman I want, and this is the man I want.’ We ask, ‘Do you?’ and you say, ‘I do.’ That’s it. Then, you start planning your life together, and you’ll find that the battles you face become easier to manage,” he added.
