Drake and Kendrick Lamar lead Grammy Award nominations Drake and Kendrick Lamar lead Grammy Award nominations[/caption] The nominations for Lamar, who swept last year’s ceremony, are for his work on the Black Panther soundtrack. Canadian rapper Drake is up for song of the year for God’s Plan and album of the year for Scorpion. Dua LipaJorja Smith and Ella Mai are among the Brits on the nominations list, which was revealed in full on Friday. “Two Grammy nominations, I’m so happy but I can’t stop crying, I can’t believe it!” tweeted Dua. The British-Kosovan pop star’s nods are for best new artist and best dance recording for Electricity, a collaboration with Silk City, Diplo and Mark Ronson. Meanwhile, London-born Ella Mai is nominated for song of the year and best R&B song for Boo’d Up, which reached number five in the US Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. The song helped her become the first Brit to top the US R&B chart since 1992. Jorja Smith, from Walsall, is up for the Grammy for best new artist, following her Mercury Prize nomination and her Brit Awards Critics’ Choice win.

Arctic Monkeys, Jon Hopkins, Disclosure, Seal and Mark Ronson are among the other British nominees.
Elsewhere, folk singer Brandi Carlile has six nods, while Lady Gaga, Cardi B and Childish Gambino each have five. Ariana Grande receives two nominations – one for best pop vocal album (Sweetener), and best pop solo performance (God is a Woman). One of the most notable snubs is for Taylor Swift – whose album Reputation received only one nod, for best pop vocal album.

This year’s most nominated artists

 • 8 – Kendrick Lamar
 • 7 – Drake
 • 6 – Boi-1Da, Brandi Carlile, Mike Bozzi
 • 5 – Cardi B, Childish Gambino, H.E.R., Lady Gaga, Maren Morris, Soundwave

Four of the major categories were expanded this year, to allow for more recognition for women and BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) artists. Song and album of the year are among the categories which will now have eight nominees, instead of five. The change comes after the Recording Academy created a diversity task force in response to criticism that the winners are usually disproportionately white and male. The categories which have been expanded are album of the year, record of the year (for best overall song), song of the year (which is specifically for songwriting) and best new artist. The other categories will continue to include five nominees. Bruno Mars swept last year’s awards and caused something of an upset when he won the album of the year prize over Kendrick Lamar. The 2019 ceremony takes place on 10 February at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. SOURCE : bbc.com]]>

Tymain Robbins Releases Album ‘Fashionably Late’

North Carolina emcee and creative Tymain Robbins reveals his newest album ‘Fashionably Late’ September 29th which is a testament and journey for him to showcase not only his story but also his amazing talent in curating music. The main story of my upcoming album revolves around self-discovery and personal growth. Each track is a chapter in this narrative, with themes of overcoming, determination, and finding one’s true purpose. Fans of artists like J. Cole, Nas, and Jay-Z should find solace in Tymain Robbins.

“I also watched this Russ interview where he quoted something from John Mayor. He mentioned, “if you wait too long to drop your own songs you’re late to your own party”. That saying really stuck with me,” Tymain said. He continued with, “I’m an artist who has held on to years of music trying to create the perfect project, and it’s caused me to not drop much. The interview made me realize that during this time I’ve forced myself to be late to my accomplishments, celebrations, current fans enjoying new music, and new fans discovering me. So, I decided that if I’m late to my party then I at least need to arrive in fashion.”

The overall LP is based on a diverse amount of topics coming from the words of Tymain himself. The tracks that are the focus on this project are “Fashionably Late,” “Denim Tears,” and “Endless Possibilities.” “Fashionably Late” is about coming back after a hiatus and being better than ever due to the amount of work you put in over the off-season. “Denim Tears” plays on the title of the project, is filled with confidence and this song is about the embodiment of everything in your genes. “Endless Possibilities” is about overcoming adversity and finding strength within ourselves. It’s one of those, “if I can do it, so can you” records.

His recent Rolls Royce activation event is an example of how he extends his creativity to outside the studio. The Rolls Royce listening event was inspired by the luxurious and sophisticated nature of the album. “I wanted the event to match the grandeur of the music and provide fans with a unique and memorable experience,” he said. “The Rolls Royce symbolizes both success and class, which aligns with the album’s themes of ambition and self-improvement. I really just wanted to do something different that I haven’t seen before.”
