Duckwrth releases new video, 4K, and it’s a vibe

LA-based recording artist, musician and designer, Duckwrth, releases the video for his newest single, “4K” featuring Phabo. The, WaveIQ produced track is from his upcoming project, SG8*, due out September 3rd. The project is aptly named after the SuperGood brand he created and the evolution to his 2020 album of the same name. Continuing the lineage of soul and diving deeper into melodic R&B, the project is layered with vocals, however this standout track focuses on Duckwrth’s bars serving as an anthem for escapism. “4K” is available on all streaming platforms. Watch here.
In celebration of the release of the newest video, Duckwrth hosted a series of screenings on Tuesday, August 24th at Braindead Studios in Los Angeles.
The visual highlights the track’s triumphant tone of escapism, emphasizing the freedom of leaving quarantine and flocking to the tropics. Shot in Pink Sands, Bahamas, the music video’s comedic timing breaks the fourth wall to showcase the realities of vacationing in the age of social media and highlight reels. “4K” is a vibe, an illuminating reality check, and most definitely a movie.
“Right when outside started opening up and everyone started flocking to Tulum and Hawaii…that’s what 4K is about. Trying to adjust and acclimate while still having fun,” said Duckwrth. “It’s the paradox of the recurring line, ‘Was your pandemic popping?’ 4K is a movie, and that’s what the pandemic turned into when we were let loose.”
In a larger sense, SG8* is an ode to post-pandemic joy and rising above the inherent anxiety associated with the era. The project also features additional production by WaveIQ (Jaden Smith, Goldlink) and Loshendrix (SZA, Brent Faiyaz, Kehlani). Presave SG8* here.
The moments keep coming for Duckwrth. He recently collaborated with Cordae in their track “Settle the Score,” featured in the new movie and soundtrack Space Jam: A New Legacy. His US tour kicking off in September has sold-out dates in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Oakland, and Chicago. Additionally, he has appeared in campaigns for Vans and the recent Yara Shahidi x Adidas Collaboration.
In March, Duckwrth’s first NPR Tiny Desk performance premiered his first single off the EP “Make U Go,” which channeled his inner Marvin Gaye. Partnering withLexus and The Fader on the series 24/8, Duckwrth gave an inside look at his creative process during quarantine. The short but introspective piece featured bits and pieces of the ethereal track.
Check out the new video for “4K” and look out for SG8* dropping September 3rd!

Nii Menz describes how he received ‘Nea Ote Me Mu’ through a dream

Music comes to musicians and songwriters through different means, as some get their lyrics while in the bath house, period of fasting, driving or at prayer meetings, others get theirs through dreams.
Over the years, artistes have shared their intriguing stories of how they got inspiration to write their songs.
Interestingly, fast-rising gospel musician, Nii Menz, known in private life as Anderson Nii Kwei Mensah has revealed that his new song dubbed “Nea Ote Me Mu” is a dream come true, a song he received in a dream.
According to him, the song was revealed to him in a dream,” it was around 2am one dawn, I was deep asleep, but found myself singing in a dream, I immediately woke up, I liked the melody and began to write verses for the song in accordance with the title revealed to him.”
Nii Menz added that he was very happy after writing the two verses for the song and proceeded to the studio to record the song to fulfil God’s revelation to him.
Touching on the message, he said “the song simply means ‘He that is in me’, the bible makes one understands that He that lives in us is greater than what we see outside.”
“If you have God living in you there is nothing one cannot do, and going by the direction and guidance of God, one can reach higher heights,” he said.
The gospel musician charged christians not to underestimate the power they carry because God created man in His own image.
