Edem is not happy about lookalikes performing songs original artists toiled to make
Over the last few months, there have been a trend of celebrity lookalikes popping up on the internet. Aside their uncanny resemblance to the real artistes, they also perform their music at events to the amusement of many.
So far, there have been doppelgängers of King Promise, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Black Sherif, Mr Drew, Medikal, Sarkodie and the list continues to expand.
So much attention has been drawn to these celebrity lookalikes, especially this week, when some media houses promoted them on their social media pages. Some event organisers have also booked them to perform at events.
Edem, award-winning rapper, has fumed at the gesture and cannot believe that these lookalikes are getting free promotion and performing songs from artistes who worked so hard to put them out.
In a tweet on Friday, April 14, Edem wrote;
“What a “COUNTRY” u book a look alike to Sing songs that someone toiled all their life to perfect as a craftsman and bloggers who posting for free are the same ppl who take money to promote those who worked hard demma products ..SMH”

Meanwhile, Sarkodie has found the lookalike trend funny, and re-shared one of their videos recently.
According to him, he has taken the decision to pay fake celebrity lookalikes of King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Medikal, and Mr Drew to perform at his “Jamz” world tour since he cannot afford to pay the real artistes.
“There’s always a way out … called some of my superstars to pull up for the #JamzWorldTour … they gave me mad attitude plus ridiculous fees so” he joked in a tweet.
