Ehalakasa Festival 2012 promises to be the biggest festival of poetry and spoken words in Ghana

This year the organizers of the Ehalakasa Festival are determine to raise the standard even higher and wider.  The organizers hinted in a press statement “we intend to bring together seasoned Ghanaian poets with unique styles in a conceptualized show choreographed under the theme ‘This Is How We Do It’. We hope to host two international poets; Maki Kawamoto (Japan) and Stine Bork Kristensen (Denmark) to celebrate, showcase and endorse the development and achievement of this new movement of the spoken word performance poetry in Ghana”. Ehalakasa this year shall involve 3 days of creative writing workshops in selected Senior High Schools (Ghanata SHS, Dabala Tech. Secondary school and Accra Academy) during the day and performances at selected venues and cultural hubs in the evening then finally the concert at the Alliance Francaise and Nubuke Foundation in grand style respectively. Beach cleaning and football match between Poets and Painter (Ehalakasa vs FCA) at the Ghana Beach Soccer Arena just after labado beach hotel at 6:00am on Saturday 27th October. The festival which will begin on 24th to 28th October will include Music, Dance, video art and more performance poetry.The main stage of Alliance Francaise will be changed into a shrine of knowledge to “edutain” the high priest of words. On this night Light will shake hands with sound, voice will propose to rhythm, smoke will dress in naked costume, word and movement will come together to dine and dance in the presence of time and silence. G3 CHANNELS is the event organizer.
