It was a fusion of both cosmopolitan and core tradition when the extremely beautiful daughter of the Executive Governor of Zamfara State Rukaiyah Bello Matawalle and her beau, Muhtar Ahmed Dan Madami came together in matrimony at the Emir’s palace in Maradun. It was gathered that the young lovebirds had met at a Cypriot university they both attended.

The seven-day carnival like wedding will go down in the history of the state as one of the wedding of the year. From the resplendent event centre, the artistic makeover, the bridal shower and the roll call of dignitaries that graced the event, it was a world-class wedding ceremony.

To kick start the wedding was Bridal shower that friends and family of the beautiful bride put together to celebrate the bride. It was followed by a Cocktail party on the second day while the third day was the Fulani Day and the fourth day happens to be the Kamu, an age long tradition. Friends and family were treated to a sumptuous banquet like Dinner on the fifth day while the sixth day had the traditional…which all took place in the governor’s residence.

The grand finale, the Fathia ceremony itself where the bride and the groom were joined together in holy matrimony in the presence of Allah, family, and a few friends had the crème-de-la-crème in the society queing up to attend. From governors to captains of industries, traditional rulers and dignitaries from all walks of life, the fathia ceremony which took place in the sprawling Emirs palace in Maradun was a talk of the town.

As the newlywed retires to their home to bask in the glow and euphoria of their love, the ceremony will continue to be spoken of in years to come and I am sure it will be a reference point when society weddings are mentioned in the country, because when RUKMUO19 came together, it was a combination of glitz, glamour and glitterati. Lest we forget, splendor and class was also on display.
