Penelope MawuenyegaMrs. Penelope Jones-Mensah Mawuenyega, a former Miss Ghana runner-up, socialite and lawyer, has officially launch her 40 Roses Foundation, which seeks to harness the power of successful women  to educate, mentor and empower socio-economically challenged girls with academic promise to enable them fulfill their maximum potential.   Although founded in honour of her 40th birthday, Penelope it was her hope and prayer that, the true purpose of the initiative would always remain those the foundation seeks to serve – “That little girl who will count because of this; The young Ghanaian woman who will be the first woman from her family to enter university because of this; The girl who will live a better life because of this. These girls are the reason why we are here tonight and they are the reason for The 40 Roses Foundation. They are the Roses who will bloom and make the world a more beautiful place.” 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch She also explained her drive to see girls succeed: “I believe that young Ghanaian women and girls constitute one of the most powerful demographics in Ghana today- in numbers and in collective potential. The choices this generation of young women make will not only shape their lives, but that of a whole new generation of girls and boys in our society. Therefore investing in the educational and personal advancement of these girls today means they will have the tools to reinvest in their own lives, their families and their communities as a whole.” The launch which was attended by several female activists, groups and mentoring programs, saw several individuals donating and pledging to support the foundation.  Penelope’s father, a retired Supreme Court Judge, presented a cheque of GHc10,000 to the foundation. Special guest of honour, Nana Oye Lithur -Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection – in her speech, congratulated Mrs. Penelope Jones-Mensah Mawuenyega for her vision and pledged her ministry’s support for the foundation.  Also present was Mrs. Dzifa Abla Gomashie-Ahiaglo, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch 40 roses foundation launch  ]]>
