“Fast & Furious” Star Tyrese Gibson Taken Into Custody Over Child Support Debt
American singer and actor, Tyrese Gibson was taken into custody in court on the morning of Monday, September 9, 2024 for his failure to fulfill child support obligations to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee.
As reported by TMZ, the “Fast & Furious” star, who has a 5-year-old daughter named Soraya with Lee, appeared before Judge Kevin Farmer in a Fulton County, Georgia courtroom to address his ongoing child support dispute.
The judge expressed frustration over Gibson’s continued noncompliance with the court’s order to pay $10,000 per month, a directive issued last April. In light of Gibson’s nonpayment, Judge Farmer found him in contempt of court.
Consequently, Gibson was handcuffed and escorted out of the courtroom. According to the report, Judge Farmer indicated that Gibson could avoid incarceration by settling the outstanding amount of $73,000, which includes $7,500 designated for Lee’s attorney fees.
TMZ further states that the TGT singer is currently making arrangements to settle the debt owed. Over the weekend, Gibson cautioned his fans about the possibility of his arrest during the child support hearing and alleged that Judge Farmer and his ex-wife’s legal representatives were conspiring against him.
