The renowned Brooklyn-based Hip-Hop group, Flatbush Zombies, and blockchain-based music and gaming platform, Cool World are excited to announce a new Web3 collaboration, The Zombieverse which has officially launched today. The Zombieverse is a communal and fan-oriented online platform created and owned by the Flatbush Zombies which offers exclusive access to never-before-heard music, games, and a private forum, The Graveyard where fans can interact directly with the Flatbush Zombies. Other platform features include an online store called the Zomb-E-Mart, one-of-a-kind collectible avatars called ZombieLords that unlock unique features and profile customizations, an Arcade, and much more. To keep fans engaged, The Zombieverse will also launch with weekly & seasonal content and collectibles, initially including two collectible editions of FBZ’s 2016 project, 3001: A Laced Odyssey playable via the COOL D.I.S.C. audio player which features unique 3D artwork and custom typography designed by Erick The Architect. Finally, for their most engaged fans, the Flatbush Zombies have included a collection of three never-before-heard demos, The DeadDemos, accessible as rewards to those who complete the community-driven season one Quests.

To access The Zombieverse, fans can log into the platform via traditional Web 2.0 logins such as email or social media accounts, or by using their Web 3.0 wallet. Unlike other Web 3.0 ventures, Flatbush Zombies and Cool World worked in tandem to ensure their new platform was just as accessible and easy to use for their long-standing fans as it is for those in the Web 3.0 space. The Zombieverse is free to access and includes numerous affordably priced items which are purchasable via crypto wallet as well as by credit card, including an “Album Box” that includes a copy of FBZ’s album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey, and an avatar, as well as a ”Mini Box” which includes an avatar and 3 songs. Last week, The Zombieverse was made available for those who pre-ordered a vinyl copy of 3001: A Laced Odyssey and within 24 hours, there were over 1,000 accounts registered on the site. In keeping with the Flatbush Zombies’ interest in environmental conservation, The Zombieverse and Cool Word are built on the Polygon blockchain network, which is considered to be one of the most eco-friendly blockchains with the lowest gas fees. With the official launch of The Zombieverse, the Flatbush Zombies and Cool World invite fans to participate in their first-ever online interactive community — click here for more info and to sign up.

Brooklyn, New York’s Flatbush Zombies channel the best of the ’90s East Coast rap era on cinematic tracks full of mind-altering atmospherics and dense lyrical content. Emerging as underground favorites in the early 2010s, they crashed into the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 with their official studio debut, 2016’s 3001: A Laced Odyssey. They’re also part of the New York supergroup Beast Coast. The FBZ trio was formed by Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott in 2010. Meech and Elliott grew up together in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, and hooked up with Juice in high school, freestyling with each other until they decided to lay down official tracks. In 2012, they released their first mixtape, D.R.U.G.S (“Death and Reincarnation Under God’s Supervision”), which featured the ominous “S.C.O.S.A.” and up-in-smoke “Face Off (L.S.Darko).” Joey Bada$$’s Pro Era crew and FBZ formed the Beast Coast collective and toured across the United States in early 2013; they would return at the end of the decade with their debut LP. Later that September, the trio dropped their second mixtape, the drugged-out epic Better Off Dead, which included verses by Action Bronson and Danny Brown. Continuing their Beast Coast relationship, FBZ and The Underachievers released a collaborative EP, Clockwork Indigo, in 2014. By 2016 The Flatbush Zombies completed work on their official debut LP, 3001: A Laced Odyssey, which was released in March 2016. The highly anticipated set was received warmly across Europe, Australasia, and in the U.S., where it hit number ten on the Billboard 200. Two years later, they returned with their critically acclaimed sophomore full-length, Vacation in Hell, which peaked at number nine on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart. In 2019, the Beast Coast project issued their debut effort, Escape from New York, which was produced In part by Elliott. The set became a Top 30 hit in the U.S. The Zombies returned to their own material in 2020 with the short EP now, more than ever.

RUGER ON RELEASING A DELUXE EDITION OF ‘THE SECOND WAVE’

It was only right for us to do that, because these songs were supposed to be on that from the beginning. We were supposed to release like 7 songs, but we cut it down to 4. Then, the idea came from releasing ‘The Second Wave’ EP. We said that we’d release 4 songs, then release 3 additional songs as a deluxe. Then, as life goes on new vibes came from the studio, so we said we’re not even putting those additional 3 songs, we’re going to put new additional 3 songs. That’s how it happened, and I’m happy with how it’s going. Thank God for everything.

RUGER ON HIS GRATITUDE AND DETERMINATION

I feel good, I feel blessed going to every country that I go to. Netherlands, Australia… People singing my songs word for word. It’s an amazing feeling because not every artist comes out within a year and that song travels that far, but I am a testimony. I thank God and I thank everyone that enjoys my music as it comes out every time. It’s just encouragement for me to work harder and keep doing my best. Never going to the studio to do any mediocre sounds, never going to the studio to say “Whatever I drop they’re going to listen,” I go into the studio giving my 100% best and God will do the rest for me.

RUGER ON FAST-CONSUMING FANS

People tend to forget how good Ruger is. People are fast consumers so they consume what they have now and then… Do they forget about you? I don’t know but I feel like if they don’t hear anything from you in a while they feel like “Where’s Ruger?” They should always know that whenever Ruger comes through, it’s always a 100% vibe so these songs are very personal songs to me – “Girlfriend” is a personal song, “WeWe” is a personal song, “Warning” is a personal song – it’s just me stating about my personal experiences, and people who can relate to what I’m talking about, can relate. I feel like these songs are going to go very far, I’m proud of what I’ve done in the studio and I’m thankful to everyone supporting me in every little way they can. I’ll keep giving my best.
