Ghanaian actor, Mr. Beautiful has claimed that policies by former President John Agyekum Kufuor caused the collapse of popular entertainment show, Concert Party.

According to Mr. Beautiful, the collapse of what was once Ghana’s best entertainment show, was caused by the Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Eva Lokko who hiked telecasting fees making it difficult for the show’s sponsor to keep up.

Speaking in an interview with Fiifi Banson, the popular actor asserted that Kufour should be faulted as he’s the one who appointed Eva Lokko as the Director General of GBC.

“Concert party collapsed through policies of Kufuor but many are not aware. He brought a woman called Eva Lokko to head GBC, at the time our main sponsor was Key Soap.

“She hiked the fee Unilever was paying for the telecasting of the programme forcing them to withhold their sponsorship, that is when the entire enterprise collapsed,” he stated.

“Concert Party” known popularly as “Key Soap Concert Party” was one of Ghana’s most popular theatre events.
