French Afrobeats sensation Tayc releases ‘Room 96’ EP

Following a two year hiatus, Tayc finally returns with a multi-track release in the form of ‘Room 96’. Known globally for his hits ‘Le Temps’ and ‘N’y pense plus’, released as part of Tayc’s last album ‘Fleur Froide’, Tayc cemented his spot amongst France’s and one of the world’s finest artists, collaborating with the likes of Manu Dibango, Fally Ipupa, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold to name a few. With a total of over 1.5 billion streams and sold-out shows from Kinshasa to Paris and Toronto to Stockholm, it’s become evident that the Afrolov’ sound, Tayc’s own uniquely-styled jazz-tinged R&B combination, has become one of the most popular Afrobeat genres worldwide.

What can be described as a mix of Afrobeats, Jazz, R&B, Soul, and Gospel, has proven to be the right recipe to chart-topping hits. Tayc now returns with a more R&B focused EP, transporting listeners on a romantic journey.

On the new release, Tayc says “Room 96 is an EP that really represents where I’m at musically right now, I loved working on this EP and I’m very happy to bring some R&B and Soul vibes back into my music. I’m really excited to be able to share it with the rest of the world and to perform some of the tracks live soon as well. We have great plans on the live front and I think the tracks from ‘Room 96’ will resonate well with the audiences.”

‘Room 96’ opens with the title track, introducing a romantic and alluring flow, teasing the EP’s 10 track affair which roves from afrobeat sounds to slow R&B tones. The catchy chorus of ‘Lucky’, guided by Bamenda chants is a playful track, which, alongside the gospel tints of ‘Carry Me’, and the 90’s HipHop feel of ‘Success’, are a testimony to the EP’s versatility.

On ‘Encorps’, the Frenchman showcases his unparalleled skills, mixing a true afrobeats rhythm with R&B high-pitched vocalizing bridges and smooth vocals. The track will be accompanied by a music video which is set to be released later this month.

Tayc’s come a long way since the first release of ‘Fleur Froide’ in 2020, winning the eleventh season of France’s Dancing With The Stars with Fauve Hautot, acting in the Netflix series ‘Christmas Flow’, launching his own fragrance, and increasing the melodic richness of his music as he transforms into an outright and fully fledged artist, as demonstrated on ‘Room 96’.
