Controversial Ghanaian singer, Mzbel, has revealed why organizers of the Ghana Music Awards, now Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, have cut her out of the awards scheme.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day, the “16 years” singer revealed the issues started when she complained about her 2005 hit song ‘I6 Years’ not winning an award at the 2006 edition of the awards show.

“Because we had issues, I remember as far back as 2006, I complained about ‘16 years’ not winning an award and every time they will nominate me and the panelists will go on TV and discredit me, and the people have to vote and you don’t expect people to vote for me. And even way before and after we sorted it out, it’s like they cut me out”, she said.

Mzbel revealed this in answer to a question about filing for the 2019 edition of the awards show.

Mzbel currently hosts a sex-and-relationship talk show on Onua 95.1 FM.

The singer is putting her music on hold to pursue other things including a production house she owns.
