Ghanaian-born, Trevin Hunte emerges front-runner on ‘The Voice’
With only six contestants remaining in the 3rd season of the hit American talent hunt, ‘The Voice’, it seems that 18 year old Ghanaian-born Trevin Hunte is one to beat! Week after week, Trevin gives nothing less than exceptional performances and Monday night’s show saw his most ground-breaking and magical performance to date. The final remaining contestants gave it their all. Each performed not one, but two, songs. One was chosen by their respective coach, and one chosen on their own. Trevin gave a jaw dropping performance of Jennifer Hudson’s “And I’m Telling You.” Judge, Adam Levine shared his sheer appreciation for Trevin, stating: “Forget about the competition, just as a group of people, I thoroughly enjoyed an incredible God given voice.” He further gave the best compliment of the night, declaring Hunte’s performance as the best performance he has ever seen on all seasons of The Voice. Blake Shelton congratulated Trevin on giving a full two minute moment. He acknowledged, “You gave full on Trevin and for the first time didn’t hold anything back.” Christina Aguilera was so blown away by Trevin’s performance that she could not stop fanning herself while speaking. She praised him as she explained, “When you hit those notes, there is something about you that is so magical. I can feel your pain and the motivation and drive you have for this business. I am so happy to be here to enjoy this and would love to one day have you under my wing to personally show you the ropes.” Trevin’s parents migrated from Ghana to the USA and the singer shared the story about his humble origins with American entertainment reporter, Todd Betzold in an interview. He said: “I am so happy and I want to be shown as helping my family. You don’t even know half of the stuff my family has gone through and I’m so proud of my parents for pushing me and so proud of the whole entire family because we came from a third world country called Ghana and for them to come here and make something positive out of all the problems they went through, I’m just so happy.” ]]>
