Google font’s first Ghanaian-inspired font

Google font – the number one open-source font directory, boasts of over a 1000 fonts inspired by people, cultures and places all over the world. For the first Dme, a Ghanaian- inspired font designed by 3 Ghanaians (David Annertey Abbey-Thompson, Afotey Clement Nii Odai and Ama Asantewa Diaka of Aayalolo Studio) – has made its debut on Google. Introducing Ga Maamli – Accra’s own handwriDng.

Inspired by the historic handwriOen posters found in the vibrant coastal communiDes of Accra, Ga Maamli is a font that embodies the spirited essence of the Ga people.
This font’s variaDons and nuances exude a charm that pays homage to its vernacular origins while embracing modern typographic standards. Ga Maamli is more than just a font – it captures and celebrates the lively culture of the people of Accra.
