Got what it takes to win? Ghana's first 5km obstacle course race set for May 13
All over the world, people are going crazy over obstacle course races and now that craze is finally hitting Ghana in grand style. On Saturday 13th May, 2017 at the Military Academy and Training Schools Teshie, Africa Sports, an events company is organizing a 5-kim-long obstacle course race with over 10 obstacles to challenge participants, called “The Ascenders,” in a fun way. Fitness enthusiast and former Ghana Black Stars captain, John Mensah, is the patron for the event. The Ascent is a sports and fitness event that combines various physical challenges runners have to get through in order to complete the race – climbing, crawling, jumping, balancing etc. By participating, runners will push their mental and physical limits, helping them develop and nurture life-improving values such as determination, teamwork, focus, discipline and confidence. Fitness experts and personal trainers will be on hand to train, motivate and guide runners through the race, and teach about fitness. The event is geared towards helping you become a better version of yourself, said Catherine Manianaga, founder of Africa Sport. “It is not because things are difficult that you don’t dare, it is because you don’t dare that they are difficult,” said Manianga. More than just a day of sports and fitness, The Ascent will be an all-day festival with music, performances, food vendors and other fun activities throughout the day. “Your Ascent race experience doesn’t end at the Finish Line,” said Tiffany Sey, director of Africa Sport. “Take on the full Ascent experience with a day of activities: Food, Zumba, Competitions, Music & Dance. No need to change your clothes, you are an Ascender, sweating is good!” Tickets can be bought on the website www.theascentafrica.com or on the day for GHs 50 per single participant. Teams of two or more get a discount. Check out their Facebook for more information www.facebook.com/theascent2017. ]]>
