GWR: World’s oldest chicken, Peanut, dies aged 21
Peanut, the world’s oldest chicken, has passed away at the impressive age of 21.
The famous poultry died on the morning of Christmas Day last year at her home in Michigan, USA.
“Peanut was a close family member, and I’m grieving her loss. We bonded 21 and a half years ago when I peeled her out of an egg, and although I realize she had a phenomenally long life for a chicken, I’m heartbroken nonetheless,” Peanut’s owner, Marsi Darwin, wrote in a blog post announcing her hen’s passing.
Peanut’s remarkable longevity made her a unique figure in the world of poultry and captured the attention of animal enthusiasts globally.
Hatched in the year 2002., Peanut lived a full and, undoubtedly, cluck-worthy life. Her journey from a fluffy chick to the world’s oldest chicken was not only a testament to her resilience but also a source of inspiration for those fascinated by the mysteries of avian longevity.
