Heroes win Malta Guinness Street Dance Season 5

Heroes Dance Crew, will be Ghana’s rep at the International Dance Organization (IDO) World Hip Hop Championships in Germany. This was made known after the dance crew won the 5th edition of the Malta Guinness Street Dance last Friday September 14, 2012. MGSD series ended with Heroes being declared the winning after compiling judges scoring and Facebook fan page votes and beating their opponents; Pipeline, One Spirit and Rockers of all time to take home the cash price of GHc 15000 and the once in a lifetime opportunity to dance on the world stage An initiative by Malta which has over the years and seasons, aimed at giving a platform for young, energetic and talented guys and girls to showcase their exciting dance skills. The competition selects the best dancers and takes them through weeks of vigorous training and grooming to assist them become professionals and effectively build a lucrative career in dance. The grand finale of the season came off at the National Theatre in Accra opened with exhilarating dance choreography by all four competing dance crews. This served as a teaser of  the night will be. KOD  appeared on stage dressed in a trendy ‘togas’ pants with a red vintage telephone in hand while doing the moonwalk to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Followed by Miss Bee who was dressed in black dancing. Judge Reggie Rockstone the final Judge , did not disappoint his fans as he put up a dance performance that left the audience hungry for more after he had left the stage. The four dance crews were tasked to dance to the theme “futuristic – how dance will be in the future”.  Pipeline dressed in workmen garb laying pipes had some goo stunts and dance moves but did not awe the audience or the three judges. Heroes dance crew, appeared on stage in Ninja attires incorporating some awesome kung-Fu moves into their dance routine that had both the audience and the Judges impressed with their creativity and energy. Rockers of all time followed thrilled the audience with their wild imagination of blind people dancing in a group. They came on stage holding black and white canes pretending to be blind men dancing. Judges commended them for having a wild imagination for the future. One Spirit futuristic dance was incorporated with neon lights in their costume that came on as they dance. It was an exciting performance although they wardrobe malfunction later in the performance. The last task was the personal dance routine by all four dance crews. This time Pipeline and Rockers were a little more impressive but they could hold a candle to Heroes and One spirit, who both did jaw dropping stunts and dance moves. The grand finale also saw performances by hip life giants VIP, EL and Guru and with his Lapaz Toyota song had the audience dancing. Ayekoo to Heroes, hope they go far in the world championship and show the world Ghana’s famous azonto moves. ]]>
