My Story: How Nathan Addo Larbi hawked bread to complete UCC with first-class honours
Nathan Addo Larbi is my name. I just graduated on 16th December 2021 as a first-class student at the University of Cape Coast, UCC.
In fact, it was a herculean task for me to combine business with academics but I was able to endure to the fullest. Because of the financial crisis at home, I used to miss lectures and quizzes to hawk on the street to sell bread. I did the bread selling from level 200 to level 300.
The majority of my program mates made fun of me for carrying bread on my head but I endured since I knew that’s the only option I had to support my parents at home.
In fact, it wasn’t an easy task for me at all yet, I have been able to blend business with studies of which I have successfully graduated today as a first-class student of UCC.
I successfully established a maize trading company during level 400 first semester, which is known as “ Sankofa Maize Connect Enterprise (SMC) “, and recognized by the Register General Department.
Currently, SMC is an inequity partnership which Umoja Generation wealth which is based in UK
I hereby admonish the youth of today and that they should forget the search for white-collar jobs which is unattainable and venture into entrepreneurship, which will make them self-employed and provide antidotes to the ailing Ghanaian economy.
Above all, they should never give up no matter the obstacles.
