I Don’t Rush To Make Hit Songs – Gasmilla

Ghanaian music sensation, Odartei Milla Lamptey, popularly known as Gasmilla has asserted that releasing hit songs is not his primary focus.

Known for his infectious rhythms and catchy tunes, the ‘Telemo’ hitmaker in an interview with Graphic Showbiz revealed that if there was ever anything he would avoid doing in his line of job as a musician, is to be pressured into releasing hit songs. He further indicated that there was no way he would be intimidated by the wish and demand of others to release songs.

”I don’t rush to make quick songs. I take my time with my music, crafting each one carefully. My goal is to make music that people will love for a long, long time,” he stated.

Gasmilla, who is also known as the “International Fisherman,” to a greater extent made known that his focus extends beyond just releasing hits, emphasizing that his main focus is to create and release songs generations will hold dear with pride. He also issued a strong caution to music enthusiasts and industry players against the practice of categorising artistes into specific music genres or styles.

The renowned crooner divulged that creativity thrives when musicians are free to explore and adapt to various music genres, instead of being staked in a particular category.

“I don’t think people should box artists into one style of music. That singular act kills creativity. I, for instance, may have the skills to explore other areas and put my artistic prowess to the test.

“Putting me in one style of music will kill my creativity. In fact, this act of saying this artist belongs to this space or that space alone kills creativity, and we must put a stop to it,” he added.
