I never wanted to marry a musician – Simi

Famed Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, better known in showbiz as Simi has asserted that she never intended to marry an artiste.

According to her, it was never her intention to marry her husband, Adekunle Gold, who is equally an artiste because she does not have a thing for musicians. Simi averred that she initially thought Gold was just a fan hoping to connect with her on Facebook. She went on to say that she met Gold as a graphics designer and had no idea “he was singing”.

The ‘Duduke’ crooner made this known while narrating how she met her husband, Adekunle Gold, in an interview on the ‘Tea With Tay’ podcast.

“When I first met my husband, I did not know he was singing. Because I already said I cannot marry a singer. He used to be the King of Photoshop. I have never heard him sing up till that time. I think he was even a fan,” 

“He had sent me a message on Facebook. I never saw it. I still have not replied. I sensed that it was him that would be good for me,” she said. 

Simi got married to Adekunle Gold in January 2019. The couple have since been blessed with a daughter, Adejare.
