Ghanaian actress and TV presenter, Gloria Sarfo, has detailed the many disappointing stories and hurdles she encountered while pursuing her dream as an actress.

The winner for ‘Best supporting actress’ at the 8th Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards
(AMVCA) discussed in an interview on TV3’s ‘Newday’ with Berla Mundi, that her success story in the film industry has been a miraculous and great one, as she faced many hurdles in her come up.

“I really wanted to record the video with you reciting my speech to the world because me I have a story, Samira knows that I have a story and I am one of the greatest survivors in this industry, anytime I’m talking about that, I get emotional but I’ll be good.

“This is me very passionate about what I want to do, what I love to do and I kept being denied, denied roles, sidelined and blacklisted and for some strange reasons I don’t even know, most of my colleagues, when I’m being casted along side, they are like, ‘but Gloria can’t play that role’ you know I get that, and I know lot of people, I won’t mention names and then ‘Efiewura’ happened that spoilt the whole thing,” she said.

Gloria added that acting in her local dialect got her tagged as a local actress who cannot reach the large market.

“I was tagged as a local actress, like you can’t meet the particular target, particular market target and all that just because I am acting my local dialect but guess what, it is my local dialect that won me that award, I spoke twi a lot, Shirley was like Gloria do it, don’t entertain anyone, speak twi, and I did that and I am thinking I did well with the acting and all that but I am thinking that where and what I was disgraced with has brought me the award,” she stated.
