I wasn’t discovered by Dr Pounds or Castro – Kofi Kinaata

Celebrated Ghanaian songwriter and rapper, Martin King Arthur best known as Kofi Kinaata has expressed gratitude to individuals who supported his music career but says none of them discovered him.

Kinaata was addressing the perception by many music fans that his rise to stardom was primarily due to him being discovered by industry giants like Castro, Samini and Dr. Pounds.

The “Effiakuma Broken Heart” hitmaker underscored that he was already doing music before he met them and that they did not discover him.

Speaking to Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Entertainment 360 on Saturday, Kinaata explained “The subject of discovery is sometimes overused or overemphasised. Discovering someone means unearthing a raw potential and letting the individual realise his or her talent, that’s what I call discovery”.

“I am grateful to all these personalities for their sterling contributions to my music career, they put me on a good pedestal however i don’t owe my talent and music career to them”.

“When Dr. Pounds met in Takoradi, I had been selected to be part of a rap competition which I won eventually, this means I was doing music already”, he said.

Kofi Kinaata is currently promoting his EP “Kofi oo Kofi”.
