After opening the much anticipated new TV reality show, ‘Icon: Diva’s Edition’ last Sunday with the ‘auditions show’ that saw tonnes of aspiring young singers try-out for a chance to be a part of the making of Ghana’s first super girl group, the selected few get the chance to meet the show’s judges for the first time at ‘boot camp’ this weekend.
The judges, Stephanie Benson, ‘Quantos’Ackah-Yensu and Gena West will choose 21 finalists from the lot after working with them in boot camp to access the strengths and weaknesses of the individual contestants. According to sources, a lot of drama unfolded as the girls struggled to catch the attention of judges, by proving their talents in terms of vocal delivery and performances. After going through voice and choreography training, fitness regimes and complete makeovers, the finalists will be grouped into 7 groups of 3 and compete for the ultimate prize over the duration of the competition. After spirited performances each week, one group would be eliminated until the grand finale in April.
All the drama that unfolded in boot camp will be revealed on Sunday at 8.00pm on TV3, Net 2, Multi TV, Crystal TV, etv Ghana and Metro TV, with a repeat on GTV at 9:30pm. Meanwhile the reality TV show seems to have lived up to its hype. Last Sunday’s show highlighted a mix of the very good, the good and the bad and viewers have taken to Facebook to voice out their views on the show. The ICONS fan page on Facebook has seen close to 1500 ‘likes’ following the first episode. There are already emerging fan clubs for some of the contestants although the 21 finalists and groups remains unknown.
