Popular Ghanaian actor and broadcaster Mikki Osei Berko says if foreign contents are not banned in Ghana TV screens before the year ends, he’ll go naked to demonstrate against the government.
According to the actor who was speaking on UTV’s ‘United Showbiz’ show, foreign contents have kept filmmakers out of business for many years because there are no policies to put them in check.
He urged the Ghanaian government to place a ban on foreign drama series (telenovelas) to save the county’s dying culture by implementing policies.
The actor who is best known for playing Master Richard in the popular ‘Taxi driver’ series, said he finds it highly offensive seeing foreign drama series aired on television stations at primetime.
“It is the responsibility of the government to put structures in place for the arts industry.
“If by December, nothing is done about these foreign contents on television screens, I’ll personally march NAKED to the Jubilee House. Television stations show these foreign contents during prime time.” said Mikky.
