Innovate or die: ShaQ Express leads innovations in the delivery industry

It is always exciting to see local Ghanaian businesses taking on foreign multinationals in mega industries. ShaQ Express is one of such local champions; a Ghanaian owned tech company rubbing shoulders with the “big boys” in the delivery space. The company started off as a delivery company and slowly transitioned into a fully-fledged tech company; providing its services through the ShaQ Express App as a convenient solution to request for packages to be delivered across the capital. Since then, the company has gone on to expand its service reach by advertising International and regional deliveries. In the same period the company has doubled its fleet size and even opened another branch in the Northern regional capital, Tamale.

All of this has achieved in less than a year and as impressive a feat as that sounds, ShaQ Express seems to be making even more strides in the industry. In November last year, the company launched its very own food delivery service, ShaQ Food, allowing for users to access delivery services and order for food from their favourite restaurants all in the ShaQ Express App. This put the company in direct competition with other big industry players like Glovo, Bolt and Jumia.

Yet again, ShaQ Express has proven its well of innovative ideas does not run dry. A week ago, the company subtly launched its cake ordering service aptly captioned “PATISSERIE” on the ShaQ Express App. A cake lovers haven where users can order and customise cakes in-app and have them delivered right to their doorstep; with options of choosing flavours, cake sizes and even indicating what inscriptions you want on your cakes, the ShaQ Express patisserie service truly gives a whole new definition to comfort food with emphasis on the comfort. The service offering promises to give users access to baked delicacies from some of the best bakeries the country. The company announced that the service is currently opened to users in both Accra and Tamale and believes the timing couldn’t be better with a big holiday for cake lovers lurching just around the corner.

In a statement from Anthony Owusu Ansah, founder and CEO of ShaQ Express, the Patisserie service is one of many other innovative ideas the company is looking to unveil in the course of the year. “We want customers to think ShaQ Express first when they want anything because they know we will deliver it right on time”- Anthony Owusu-Ansah. With the logistics industry around the world undergoing massive technological revamp; the introduction of self-driving delivery bots and drone deliveries from the likes of Delivery hero and e-commerce giant, amazon, this local Ghanaian owned company is whipping a flavour of its own in the delivery space and the future looks sweet.
