Investing in African Talent Pays Off

Talent Factory Final Logo page 002

An ongoing long-term investment by MultiChoice in developing talent for the content, production and entertainment industry is having an impact across the Africa and helping to grow vibrant new economic hubs across the continent. This investment the Multichoice Talent Factory (MTF) is a shared-value initiative that provides a platform for the TV and film industries to develop talent and build partnerships.

There are MTF Academies in Kenya (for East Africa), Nigeria (for West Africa) and Zambia (for Southern Africa), run in partnership with respected local academic Universities like the Pan Atlantic University, School of Media Communications, Lagos amongst others in the countries we operate in.

The academies offer an accredited 12-month immersion programme including both theory and hands-on experience in film production.  Each year, 60 African students get the chance to hone their skills through partnerships with global industry players like the New York Film Academy, Canon and Dolby, amongst others. MTF alumni now occupy significant industry roles across the continent.

MTF graduates are working as directors, producers, sound designers, camera operators, art directors and editors on major African productions including Salem, Tempted, Engaito, Mvamizi, Mum vs Wife, Makofi and County 49. Other alumni are working further afield on productions by French (Film Plug), German (DW Akademie) and Polish organisations. Some are furthering their studies at institutions like the New York Film Academy (NYFA), or as part of the Mandela Washington fellowship programme.

MTF Academy West Africa Director Atinuke Babatunde sees entrepreneurial success as a significant feather in the academy’s cap. “The greatest achievement by our alumni is having the ability to set up their own production companies, which can contribute to not only the creative space but also to the economy of their countries,” she says. Atinuke says she is especially proud to see alumni go on to produce great content on global platforms across the world, and to see them meeting specific local industry needs.

“In West Africa, for instance, we have seen MTF graduates play a role in raising the standard of sound production. We have regular sound masterclasses with the Dolby team, and one of our alumni is now seen as one of the leading sound specialists in the industry.” Our Ghanaian students are currently completing a commissioned project for Showmax. Similarly, there is also a commissioned show “Tejiri” coming soon to Akwaaba Magic directed, shot, and produced by our students from Ghana.

“In 2018, we committed ourselves to building the skills base in the TV industry through the MultiChoice Talent Factory,” says MTF Director for Africa Nwabisa Matyumza. “Now, after four years of operation, we are seeing our graduates enter the economy which is having a multiplier effect on the development of our sector across the continent.”

In Southern Africa, the biggest MTF impact has been in technical capacity. “With the advent of MTF, the pool of well-trained professionals available to production houses and TV stations has grown significantly,” says MTF Southern Region Director Chris Puta. “In the process, these media platforms are able to save money and time that they would otherwise have spent training their own media workers.”

Puta says the MTF Academy in Zambia is contributing to developing the local industry, which can now compete with more established film and television regions across the continent. “I realised MTF was making a powerful impact in our region after we submitted our student short films for the AMVCA awards. Pitted against East and West Africa, our film Nyau got a great response from an audience of industry professionals.”

In East Africa, films by alumni from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya have gone on to win top awards across the continent. Engaito won Best MTF Film at the recent eighth AMVCA awards; Egna won the Best International Award at the Kalasha International Film Festival in Nairobi and Wavamizi won the Chairman’s Award at the Zanzibar International Film Festival. For MTF East Africa Academy Director Victoria Goro, the Academy proves its worth when MTF alumni enter the industry and begin creating work that resonates with African audiences.

“Last year alone, production companies started by MTF East Africa alumni successfully bid and were commissioned to produce six films under the Maisha Magic East and Showmax banner, while two TV reality shows were produced under the Honey Channel banner,” says Goro.

“Our alumni are part of the continent-wide move to inspired storytelling keeping viewers and communities informed, entertained and connected,” says Goro. “In each country in the region, our alumni are to be found in the writing teams of hit TV dramas and telenovelas.” Ultimately, though, the proof of the pudding is in how MTF graduates can impact the sector.

Many MTF graduates have become entrepreneurs, having established 38 production companies that employ other young people, contributing to economic success in their countries. Others are developing shows and providing screenwriting services in Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique.

“The next generation of African TV and film professionals is helping to shape the future of our industry,” says Matyumza. “And we’re proud that MTF is playing a key role in this development. It’s an investment that will pay off in decades to come, in the form of quality African content and entertainment.”

Title: How To Run a Successful Recruitment Business

Virtual Office

Description: Are you planning on starting a recruitment business? Then follow these tips and increase your chances of success!

4 Tips To Help You Run a Successful Recruitment Business!

The recruitment industry is very competitive. Thousands of new agencies are launched every year, and many fail because they make the same mistakes. In this article, we are going to share 4 tips to help you launch your successful recruitment business!

1. Find a Good Niche

Too many recruitment agencies try to become generalists as they are worried about missing out on certain businesses. However, the problem with this strategy is it is very hard to compete with agencies who focus on one niche as they understand the niche and have great contacts within the specific industry.

Niche recruitment agencies are able to charge a premium for their services. This allows them to achieve a much higher profit margin which can fund expansion, advertising campaigns, and technology which further cements their competitive advantage.

By tailoring your recruitment agency to a nice, particularly small niche, you can quickly build relationships with the top employers and become an expert in the industry. Within a few months, everyone in the industry will know about your agency, and you will be front of mind the next time they need recruitment services.

Another advantage niche recruitment agencies have is that they rank better on search engines, particularly Google. This is because niche recruiting keywords have less competition, making them easier to rank for. Also, Google tends to favor websites that focus on specific topics as Google considers them experts and more knowledgeable.

Building a niche recruitment agency helps you stand out from the crowd. There are countless generalists out there, and it can be very hard to differentiate yourself from these other agencies if you are just getting started. By focusing on a specific niche, companies within that niche are automatically going to be more trusting of you and more willing to work with you.

2. You Need a Great Website

If you want your recruitment agency to thrive, you need a sleek modern website that is fully mobile-optimized. Your website needs to be fast and easy to navigate, but what should you include on your website?

Your website should include all of the jobs you have available. It should also include case studies that show how you have helped clients and candidates. Candidate testimonials are also a must.

Where many recruitment agency websites fail is their lack of ability to capture client and candidate contact information. Many recruitment agencies naively believe that a candidate or client is going to stumble upon their website for the first time and immediately contact them. However, in reality, most of the time, you will need to directly market to your website visitors to spur them into action.

To effectively capture client and candidate contact information, you need multiple calls of action on your website and multiple forms which allow visitors to leave their name and number. Other effective strategies are chatbots that automatically message people when they visit your website. You also need to establish remarketing code in your website so you can track visitors based on cookies and then show ads for your agency to them when they are browsing the web or social media. If you follow the above methods, you will be inundated with leads and have no problems quickly growing your number of candidates and clients.

3. Outsource as Much as Possible

A major mistake recruitment agencies make is trying to do everything themselves. The problem with this strategy is you will be competing against specialists in their field. For example, if you don’t know anything about SEO, how can you outperform a rival recruitment agency that has hired a professional SEO agency?

To improve your chances of success, you should focus on your core competencies and then outsource other functions of the business. Your key roles should be hiring and training amazing recruiters. If you can quickly build a team of top performers, your business will take off, and you will easily be able to pay for the increased expenses from outsourcing.

Outsourcing also helps you save lots of time. Instead of teaching yourself how to build a website, you can hire someone and spend those precious hours prospecting and talking to candidates and clients. Outsourcing does require capital expenditure, but it allows you to grow much faster and ensures you don’t get bogged down performing tasks outside of your expertise.

Functions of your recruitment agency that you should outsource include accounting, payroll, SEO, some types of marketing, and finance. Basically, you should consider outsourcing anything that isn’t directly related to recruiting. When your recruitment agency grows, you can consider converting some of the functions to in-house and hiring specialists. However, at the start of your journey, it is simpler to just outsource.

4. Technology is Your Friend

Technology can save you time and help you more effectively find clients and candidates and deliver amazing results for them. There is now a whole suite of different technologies built specifically for the recruitment industry.

One of the best prospecting tools for recruitment is SignalHire. This amazing tool lets you pull prospects’ contact information from company websites and LinkedIn profiles. With SignalHire’s free email finder Chrome extension, simply open anyone’s LinkedIn profile and tap the extension to instantly reveal the prospect’s email, direct number, and social media profiles.

SignalHire also has an amazing 650 million-strong B2B database. Search by company, region, name, or email and find prospects’ direct emails and phone numbers. If you are having trouble building your leads list or keep getting blocked by gatekeepers, then SignalHire is an incredible tool.

If you are going to run a successful recruitment agency, you need an applicant tracking system. One of the best applicant tracking systems is Zoho Recruit. Zoho Recruit can screen resumes and automate job board postings and interview scheduling. With this applicant tracking system, you can see every candidate in your recruiting pipeline and see what stage of the process they are at. Thanks to Zoho Recruit, you will never forget to reach out to a candidate again and always know the health of your pipeline!

There are so many different recruitment tools out there now. In the beginning, you should start with a prospecting tool and an applicant tracking system, as these will have the most beneficial impact on your agency, and then you can slowly add other tools as you need them!

Wrapping Up

Starting a recruitment agency can be a highly profitable business venture, but that doesn’t mean it is easy. To ensure you can stand out from your competition, remember to:

  • Specialize in a specific niche
  • Optimize your website
  • Use the power of outsourcing
  • Invest in technology

Comment below what strategies you have used to make your recruitment agency a success and what tips you have for agency founders just starting their journey.

3 Prominent Benefits of The Use of Artificial Intelligence for Online Casinos

iStock 1188019651

Online casinos are constantly growing and evolving, with new technologies being at the forefront of it all. Artificial intelligence is among the latest technologies spearheading this growth and innovation in the online gambling market, transforming the industry in various ways. Here are three main benefits of using AI-based systems in online casinos.

Artificial intelligence is helping casinos create personalized gaming experiences

Whether you want the best scratch off apps to win real money or online slot games, most modern casino players want a personalized experience. Fortunately, online casino operators can use AI to track the players’ behaviors and preferences to tailor the experience to suit each individual. That ensures the players get a positive gaming experience and keeps them playing.

Another way that artificial intelligence helps in personalization is when giving game recommendations or bonuses that may interest the player. That can help create a personalized betting experience that keeps players engaged for hours. Additionally, AI can help with customer support by quickly understanding common problems and providing accurate and quick solutions without human intervention.

Fraud detection and data security

AI-based systems accurately detect fraud in online casinos with no bias. Artificial intelligence programs can also learn from their past mistakes faster than any human, which makes them quite effective in fraud detection.

Artificial intelligence can detect malicious activities before harm is done by analyzing the data from other players’ devices, like their IP addresses and browser history. That allows them to change the algorithms whenever fraud or a security breach is detected.

Artificial intelligence can also track cash transactions, identify suspicious activities and flag any account suspected of fraud for further investigation by the casino staff members. That allows online casino operators to identify anomalies in real-time to avoid problems. That will help you avoid losing revenue because fraudsters are always trying to steal the players’ funds or work around the payout limits in gambling games like blackjack or poker.

Understanding the player’s behavior

Artificial intelligence helps online casinos understand their customers’ behaviors better. For example, AI-based programs can be used to track player behavior patterns and game preferences. The information can help tailor the gambling experience of every player. That makes it more likely they’ll play longer and more often.

By analyzing the players’ behaviors, AI systems can help in identifying problem gamblers. The casino can then flag players most likely to develop gambling problems. The information is also helpful in offering these players the resources and support they need to control their gambling habits.

Overall, artificial intelligence gives casino operators a wealth of data useful in improving the online betting experience for every player. By understanding player behavior, casinos can also ensure that everyone enjoys a safe and entertaining time when betting on the site.

Besides the three benefits we’ve listed above, artificial intelligence is influencing the casino industry in various ways. The technology is here to stay as it promotes fair gaming play, responsible gambling and seamless customer support.

In the past, players had to wait up to a week for their funds to be transferred from one casino to another, but now with e-wallet casinos, the process is much faster.

Reduced Cases of Fraud

Fraud has become quite rampant in the online world, so the added security of e-wallet casinos is very beneficial. With these casinos, customers don’t need to worry about their information being stolen or misused, as the encryption technology used by these providers is top-notch.

E-wallets also provide an added layer of security when it comes to online gambling and help reduce cases of fraud. This is because most e-wallets use encryption technology to protect customer information, so hackers and other malicious third parties won’t be able to access your funds.

Enhanced Security

In addition to reducing the risk of fraud, e-wallet casinos also offer enhanced security measures when transferring money. This means that players can rest assured that their funds are safe and secure when making deposits and withdrawals.

With other payment methods, there is the risk of credit or debit card information leaking, but with e-wallets, this is not the case.

Convenient Deposits and Withdrawals

Finally, e-wallet casinos also offer players the convenience of being able to make deposits and withdrawals from anywhere in the world. This is especially useful for those who are located outside of Australia and don’t have access to traditional banking services.

You can choose to use different currencies including A$ when making your deposits and withdrawals, as well as other cryptocurrency options such as Bitcoin.

How to Choose an E-wallet Casino

When choosing an e-wallet casino in Australia, it is important to look for a reputable operator. Look for casinos that have been in operation for several years and have a good reputation. It is also essential to check the payment methods they offer and ensure that they are secure.

You should also read through their terms and conditions before signing up, as these can vary from operator to operator. Additionally, make sure that you know any fees associated with the e-wallet casino before signing up.

You should be sure of the specific e-wallet that a casino accepts and make sure that your chosen payment method is accepted by the casino before making a deposit.
